Easily this best work since Crest. It's so lyrically dense and emotionally charged. The instrumentals are fantastic. The ethereal dreamscape sounds and rawness akin to black metal paired with Bladee's growled and aggressive vocal delivery, and spiritual lyricism created for an amazing experience. What an incredible track "Will Anyone Ever Love Me?" is. I think this is a perfect album. There's not a single track I dislike. Everything about it is just so good. Sufjan's performance on this album is stellar. His vocals are so smooth, comforting and soothing. It's just angelic.
Despite his vocals being more whispered and hushed, he can pack so much emotion and passion into his performances.

One of the greatest blackgaze albums imo. It's so passionate, loud and distorted. It's a product of pain and sorrow and that's communicated so well with the sounds on display in this album.
From the dark instrumentals, that fuzzy and harrowing guitar, the drums, the screaming and cries in combination with the distorted and heavy yet transcendental vocals. The atmosphere is almost dreamlike at times.
Everything only amplified by the lyricism.
