I've been excited to check out Illogic's music for a while - and it didn't disappoint! He kept up just the same energy as the feature songs I know him from, where his style meshed really well with some of my favourite 2000s rap acts like cLOUDDEAD. And it was just what I'd expected: a really great album (that NOBODY talks about), a lot of Aesop Rock vibes - maybe Illogic isn't quite that level of rhyming, though he is great, but the production is honestly way more interesting than most of Aesop's work, speaking of which the dude gives a great guest appearance on here. Mostly the songs are all good, I wouldn't say there are any skips really but there is a small dud in the tracklist in "Lessons in Love" which is not amazingly produced and is just very generic compared to everything else here, just telling a very dull love story, there wasn't very much point in it but you know it's fine I guess, and the fact that this is a noticeable low shows how much the other songs shine on this thing. Songs like I Wish He Would Make me, a an absolutely heavenly outro which has awesome production and lots of introspective lyricism, and is a perfect example of a great long rap song, sitting at ten whole minutes, but honestly it feels more like 3, what a song. Honestly this is more proof, if you needed any, that monthly listeners are irrelevant if we're really letting this guy sit at 7k!!! What are we doing bro, also we should get this to must hear now on that note.
