really impressed with how solid this is
fav tracks: DEViL, C.O.P., MiSOGYNISTICAL, EVERYONE KNOWS :)
Short review: we have selfless at home
Less short review: the lyrics are pretty and the band sounds nice, I think the strokes still have the juice but PLEASEEEEE turn off the autotune. This could have been genuinely really raw and beautiful because the instrumentals carry it and so the song doesn't feel like 6 minutes, and julian's voice is beautiful so this song could've been genuinely great!! But the autotune drowns everything out and makes the song sound low energy and ... read more
very mid unfortunately</3 it feels more low energy and uncaring than anything despite the over the top production. the juxtaposition between this and something like von dutch is night and day
Really loved the sound of this. Especially loved the vocals, the spring tag is right! Feels like a warm spring breeze coming in, though along with the anxiousness of the seasonal cycle starting anew.
Fav tracks: Besties, The Big Spin, Two Horses
This shit really is that good
Fav tracks: second sleep, black-eyed susan climb, this is the world (i made it for you)
I'm still coping because I'm a real #stroker but please let this album not have any AI bullshit but I'm also already wary with how much autotune is in this song. Like it's not as bad as it was with mean girls and the voidz but it's still very much noticeable and drains the energy of the song. The instrumentals being fun save this but julian please. julian please drop the autotune please julian look at me this isn't you. if he dropped the autotune this song would ... read more
Very grandiose, like watching a live concert in a fancy theater. I love the orchestral instrumentals especially, if anything it almost makes the viral single WHERE IS MY HUSBAND out of place? Almost. That being said some of the self referential/meta tactics were to the album's detriment where it felt like it flattened the storytelling. Life Boat. and I Hate The Way I Look Today particularly come to mind as overly simple in themes imo. Regardless very fun and impressive, and a lot of tracks ... read more
i will need to give it a couple of more relistens to appreciate the slower points of this album and give a solid score so this number may increase. but agree that some of these songs are near perfect so the hype is real. the definition of a musical journey
fav songs: chaos space marine, bread song, the place where he inserted the blade
This feels like an album that will grow on me with every relisten. Overall a very solid project throughout, no duds and the production is extremely consistent in how high quality it is. Love how music and love and relationships intertwined.
Fave tracks: Tell Me (U Want It), Innuendo (I Get U), Lovefield, Do It
dang it's really been 2.5 years since the last mitski album... and she delivers! a very mellow (which is saying a lot) album but her poetry really shines in her lyrics. excellent instrumentals all around. i'll change for you is one of her most beautiful songs ever. just very solid!
fave tracks: dead women, i'll change for you, charon's obol
HYPERYOUTH is already stellar, and the new 6 songs are a welcome addition. definitely signals a new direction for the duo, literally embracing (and fearing) growing up while also keeping that high energy party vibe going
of the new songs, favs: push the pipe, i like this, bustamove
idrc about the movie but yeah it's good! love the instrumentals on this. thematically it's alright, not as strong imo. love it when things get *really* weird which i didn't feel was the case through the whole album, but a solid and consistent sound regardless
fave tracks: house, altars, eyes of the world
i liked it! i think it's a good step in the right direction in terms of overall vibes, a step up in the production and instrumentals
i wish i vibed with every single song on this album, but the ones that hit go HARD. a lot of songs from this album are always on heavy rotation for me
favorite songs: locals (girls like us), old money bitch, geez louise
I admittedly like this a bit more than Getting Killed, though it goes without saying both projects are outstanding. Maybe because the sound on this one is slightly more accessible.
update: 88 -> 95 because i have proceeded to get more and more obsessed with this album. i LOVE when an album grows on you with every relisten.
Fav tracks: 3D Country, I See Myself, Tomorrow's Crusades, St. Elmo
kind of have no context here since i'm not into deathcore so i don't have a proper metric for comparison, but my 2026 resolution is to listen to more stuff and this ep caught my attention since it was super short and also the score was so low... but yeah it's not great unfortunately. the production is not great, the vocals have potential but fall flat in really embarrassing ways, the lyrics are also just flat, sometimes it feels like the instrumentals and the vocals are out of ... read more
nice sound (my toxic music trait is loving these kinds of edgy theatrical types of indie rock) but nothing too crazy. i think my main complaint is that some of the songs are a little repetitive, like ones you could impress people playing live but nothing too inventive. lots of potential though!
fav tracks: the thesaurus rex theme song, scam song, fad, i won't hold my breath
an engaging enough listen with some nice live performances. really appreciate will wood as an artist here with great breath control and stage presence, and the comedy portion is actually quite neat to follow along (and this is coming from someone who struggles to focus on podcasts and the like). admittedly while many of his bangers (which are thankfully the ones chosen to be showcased in this album, one thing i do appreciate about this album greatly is the setlist) are still toe-tappers ... read more
need to give this a couple more relistens, but i'm a dramatic ex choir kid so i love me some good dramatic classical pop. the orchestral instrumentals are definitely my favorite part of this album, but the vocals in general are really excellent!
fav tracks: sexo, violencia y llantas, berghain, da madrugá, memóri
Very solid, all the components here go really well together. The vocals and instrumentals and overall production are all well done!
The only downside ish is that the second half of the album gripped me much more than the first half. Wish the whole album did, but maybe with more relistens!
