I wasn’t expecting Revengeseekerz to be this compelling. Jane Remover, already known for genre fluidity(and gender <3), dives headfirst into the chaos of rage production and warped electronic textures, but does it with a far more developed emotional and sonic palette than most in the scene. While there are moments that feel overmixed or bloated, this is still a fantastic record and arguably the strongest rage-adjacent album ... read more

Deafheaven’s Lonely People With Power is a bold and amply aggressive return to the shadows. Following the dreamlike textures of Infinite Granite (which im not too crazy about), this record is a sharp pivot back into their much darker material. However, it’s not simply a retread of Sunbather or New Bermuda, Instead this feels like a refinement of the band’s contrasting instincts: the grandeur of black metal, the ... read more
If Debut was Bjork trying out sounds, Post is her mastering and refining them. I view this record as the perfect follow up to debut as it once again feels like a collection of various sounds. However, Post builds upon this idea in a way that has left me feeling like she could go anywhere after this and it would work. The mix of different ideas and concepts here is done in a way that feels so unique while also working as a cohesive piece. Like Debut, Post is a good start for new listeners as the ... read more
Debut is such a fun listen as it really does feel like Bjork trying a bunch of different styles and ideas before she truly refined her "sound". It also contains some of her most recognizable tracks ever like Human Behaviour and Venus As a Boy. While I find it to be much weaker then some of the stuff she would come to release later, it is still a strong start to one of the most groundbreaking and fantastic discographies ever. Debut is also super accessible for those wanting to get into ... read more

I genuinely cannot explain why Sleep Token does it for me. A lot of what they do I am normally not a fan of, such as Vessel's very cursive singing, but I find myself encapsulated in the lush instrumentation and emotional vocal passages. His voice is probably the most contested part of ST and I completely get why many would hate it, as it is a strong example of trends in the Metal scene that are not generally viewed as being a ... read more

I really enjoyed this one man. My first and only exposure to Julia Wolf before this was In My Room from a friend, which I loved. Because of that I decided to check this out despite the semi underwhelming reviews. I think this album is fun and works well as a collection of different sounds. It does well to cover for a lyrical pool that seems quite shallow, even if they feel personal. This would typically be an issue for me but the ... read more
*MY FIRST FULL LENGTH REVIEW SO PLEASE BEAR WITH ME*
I am fairly new to longform reviews like this so my explanations and thoughts may feel superficial or repetitive. I will try to grow and improve at this over time but regardless, I hope you enjoy!
Holy shit this album is absolutely nuts. Prior to listening to this, I was aware of and respected billy woods as a rapper in the underground scene. I acknowledge he is one of the most important artists in that crowd today. Despite this, I have ... read more
I am genuinely trying so hard to vibe with this album. I think it is good music, but Isaac wood was such an important piece to what makes AFUT one of my all time favorites. Something feels a bit hollow with his absence.
Controversial decision to put his kill count in the album title. Otherwise, some damn solid Christmas music!

CHROMAKOPIA is an interesting step in the career of Tyler, and I think it continues to add to his resume of being one of the GOATS of alternative hip-hop. I don't think it is one of his most ambitious or consistent records, but it still works for the most part. In terms of the soundscape presented, it is not pushing the novel much, and really isn't innovating on any front. This does little to hurt the enjoyment of this record however, as it is still packed with bangers. ... read more

I wanna start by saying that I love Black Midi, so hearing they were splitting made me very sad. However, if we are going to get records like this from frontman Geordie Greep, I am much less worried about the future of the sound they created. Black Midi is still one of the most prolific rock acts of 2020s, and what they have done for the art-rock soundscape cannot be undersold. This record continues down that path, albeit less intense and heavy as the projects under BM. Despite that, ... read more
Vocal Heaven
This album took a bit to click with me fully so I held off on reviewing it until I felt I had a full grasp on it. Can now say that I am in love with record. Magdalena Bay is a duo that I had not even heard of until this record, and this took me by storm. I saw the absurd amount of praise this record was receiving and knew that I had to check it out. Mica's vocal passages are ethereal on this record and genuinely take me to another plane when I hear them. Synthpop is a genre I ... read more

Sabrina Carpenter delivers a new and fresh soundscape with "Short n' Sweet". Prior this release, I was not entirely invested in what she had to offer at all. However, I am starting to see the hype and can certainly see her build on what makes this album enjoyable. One of the most distinguishing factors of her stye is the comedic elements in her writing. I think this sets her apart from the other mainstream pop acts. To sum up, I enjoy what I am hearing on this ... read more

What we have right here is Mori Calliope at her best by far. PHANTOMIME is nothing groundbreaking, but it is certainly a fun, messy experience that is solidly entertaining for the most part. The leading single Go-Getters is a genuine banger and one of her best songs ever. Overall, I enjoyed this album for the most part, and I hope this is not a fluke.
Fav Track: Go-Getters
Least Fav Track: through the blue
Exceeded My Expectations
The 3rd studio album from indie-pop star beabadoobee, This Is How Tomorrow Moves is a cute and enjoyable listen that plays it relatively safe sonically and that is okay. A lot of what I'm hearing on this record isn't particularly special, inventive, or new, but it executes what it is emulating well. I do not have any genuine qualms with this album at all honestly. I think every song is solid or better, and the vocal performances are good, albeit not the most ... read more

Peggy continues to show why he is the most exciting act in the underground hip-hop scene. I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU delivers a solid balance between melodic ballads and rock fusion bangers. The artistic direction on this album is really playing into what I enjoy and that definitely gives it points in my book. While it may not be as punchy and innovative as LP!, I think it more then makes up for it with some of the catchiest tracks he has ever made. vulgar display of power is ... read more
