No Mind - Vogue
69

Shoutout to No Mind for reaching out to me about his song Vogue. Your music has a unique potential, and I encourage you to continue promoting it and putting yourself out there to be seen. Your dedication will surely pay off in the long run.

Who am I to judge someone else's work? I am an individual who periodically submits a review of albums I hear and enjoy. With that being said, No Mind, take what you read and hear from others with a grain of salt. Repurpose constructive criticism and ... read more

Don Toliver - HARDSTONE PSYCHO

HOLD MY GLOCK WHEN IM IN THE CLUB, ITS SOME HOES IN THE BACK AND THEY WANNA COME SHOW ME LOVE!

Just wanted to say GLOCK has me in a fucking chokehold right now. It’s definitely the Whitney sample and the interpolation throughout it. I need the track no vocals for real.

Outside of that… I don’t jam out to Toliver too much. Really enjoyed his first two albums, beyond that couldn’t care much about his discography. However, this new addition is good. Really enjoyed the ... read more

Vince Staples - Dark Times

Vinces 3 album run in the 2020s is up there as one of the best with this release. He hasn’t missed with each release.

Helado Negro - PHASOR
80

First time I ever heard of Helado Negro. What’s funny is I did a double-take when scrolling through Apple Music; the name caught my eye. “Helado Negro? This ain’t no white guy, is it?” Haha, it led to me clicking this album (I only have access to 3 tracks right now), and it's got me wishing I would have heard of him sooner, or this edible is just hitting hard. Nonetheless, I’m digging what I’m hearing; those three tracks hit all the suitable sensors within my ... read more

Tanukichan - GIZMO

Has been getting a lot of play this week. Was recommended the album over the weekend, and it’s been in my rotation of albums since. Upon first listen, very distorted, and kind of chaotic feeling, but once I started actually listening deeper, and picking up on certain nuances throughout certain songs, it becomes one of those albums you put on and just let fade into the background while you pump out work, or other tasks around the crib. Definitely been an enjoyable listen.

Boldy James & ChanHays - Prisoner of Circumstance
85

Boldy has become my favorite member out of the Griselda collective. TPOTIC was my first introduction to him and ever since I just feel like he’s delivered exceptional albums one after the other. Some might feel the amount of albums he drops might make his music saturated or repetitive, however I’ve found something to like about each new addition to his catalog that’s different from each other, making me even more of a fan each time. With this new album it’s the ... read more

Navy Blue - Ways of Knowing
85

Budgies production, Navy's delivery and flow complement each other helping build on the introspective thought filled lyrics Navy displays throughout the 37min LP. Navy stays true to form, with bars that will have you contemplating your own life and the things around you, this is displayed nicely on tracks such as Phases and Pillars. Its a quality addition to both artists catalogs.

CRIMEAPPLE - El cantante
70

I’m new to Crimeapple - only jammed a few singles - this is the first album I’ve listened to by him in its entirety. For it being the first, it doesn’t disappoint. Storytelling, word bending, witty punchlines & braggadocio bars are all on display here.

Lil Terrestrial - VOYAGE
80

I've kept Lil Terrestrials' album in rotation for about a week now. Going into it I didn't know what to expect, I had no background on who Lil Terrestrial was or what kind of music he produces. I'm glad I did. Voyage is a very enjoyable album; it feels as if it should be a soundtrack to a Psy-fi movie. There are only 10 songs, and each track seems to bleed into the next introducing you to another act and setting a new tone, producing significantly different experiences. Standout tracks: ... read more
