Benjamin Gibbard spontaneously stains the hotel sheets
This is the best Sunday ever dawg. I've wanted people to embrace the mid 2000's aesthetic for music for a good while now, and this lush indietronica with obvious inspiration from Frutiger artistic styles has woken me up today. The lead vocalist makes every song have a proper weight to it, and reminds me of the performances by Beth Gibbons for Portishead. I guess I'll have to listen to their first EP now...
So wonderfully smooth and emotional to listen to, Jorja's vocals tie everything together as well
If a tree falls down in the woods, and no one is there to hear it, does it make a noise?
Jay-Z rapping with the fucking main riff in the second half of this thing is god fuckin tier
Rage Against The Machine snorts a fat line of Jazz flavored cocaine
Having not heard anything from Maruja apart from "The Invisible Man," I came into this with curiosity and hype. The result is, to put it in disrespectfully simple terms: massive.
Relevant and hard hitting lyricism, moments of calm that are crushed by moments of hatred and fear. All arranged and performed so that one instrument never compromises another. Sounds are collected in harmony and then brought together into ... read more
Wow. This new project from Tony Stark himself was something I didn't expect to enjoy so much. I loved Method Man and Redman as features, and even though some of the songs that were just over a minute long felt like throw ins, Ghostface's ability to tell stories over fresh and atmospheric beats makes the majority of the album really fun and at times emotionally gripping. Would definitely recommend a listen.
I only listened to Adrenaline and half of Around The Fur in prep for this album, and then I got jumpscared by shoegaze
While "locked club" sounded tame and a bit off from the two leading singles, this entire album either kicks mega ass or leaves you feeling emotional, in between enjoying all kinds of heavy post-metal/hardcore riffs that makes you excited for what's coming up.
Although I do think that "i think about you all the time" should have been the closer, ... read more
Oh my lord give me another line of this to snort
Did this on a whim because I thought this demo cover looked awesome, and also because I was a fan of SPEED's debut album last year. This ten minute wonderland was better than that album for me, it just has so many addictive riffs and actually has lyrics that match the intensity of the songs. They BETTER make some peak for their first official release
I'm starting my Death Cab for Cutie journey on this album. And it's one that I did not expect to me so interested by, and is sort of like a tutorial on how to listen to an album.
The first four songs are some of the midwest emo sound that I love, but then the rest of the album tells a story about a worker in a town that could be better, and has a downer of a closer that left me appreciating all the riffs and worldbuilding that is contained in these ten songs.
While not something I ... read more
From what to me sounds like the prelude to Somewhere City, my first ever Wonder Years album is like crack rn lmfao
An awe-inducing pop-punk production that has wonderfully made riffs, actually relatable emo lyrics to some extent, and a closer that you will be hard pressed to find something better than, tying everything together in complete satisfaction.
When you learn to separate art from an artist, god DAMN does art become a hell of a lot more enjoyable.
Quintessential midwest emo record that would pave the way for more bands to integrate more upbeat pop-punk environments into their sonic landscape, such as Mom Jeans and Origami Angel.
After a bit of a disappointing release from Michael Cera Palin this year, I cannot believe that something like this has sprung out of nowhere, and it's made this pretty crummy weekend feel incredible. The riffs are fresh and have their own fun gimmicks and quirks to them, the composition is unpredictable and exciting, just, goooosh, I have fallen in love with this.
symptom in particular made me giggle and jump up and down with joy lmfaoooo
And sort of like with Eggbeater Jesus (Camping ... read more
When I was just a wee seven years old in 2010, I thought that Sooner or Later was the best song of all time, and while a lot has changed since then, I do think that this album is one of the pillars of late 2000's pop music sound.
Addictive, filled with all kinds of genres and unique instrumentals, and back when Pharrell was one of the leading producers for hip-hop. I still love the album to this day.
From discog dot com...
"Glitter Trash's 1st album release, available only on CD and limited to 300 copies. The band was founded by singer/songwriter Jenna Talia (James Mullins) and the recording included Brian Milne (guitar/backing vocals), Chris Martin Jones (lead guitar), Dave Orama and Cynthia Herrmann (Bass Guitar) and Dan Allen (Drums). The album recording was initially started in 2010 at Fecal Productions in Ypsilanti, MI and moved, when the studio was relocated, for album ... read more
