~MAJIC~ used to be my least favorite Patricia Taxxon project, even worse than her initial trio of bad solo albums. This, of course, changed upon hearing Bangers for Those Who Can’t and a few of Patty’s albums as Tedrich Lendum, but my opinion on ~MAJIC~ on its own has changed too. It’s like fine. I think making this a clean version hurts a lot of tracks, but other than that, I’m glad this exists. I see what they’re going for conceptually, and I think the adjustments made tell a cohesive enough story, different to the original album’s. The two fully new songs are solid but sound a little too much like The Scholars to feel fully cohesive.
