J. Cole - The Fall-Off
80

I can appreciate what J Cole can bring on a album, he is bar for bar one of the best rappers of his generation. After a 10-year wait Cole struggles with the same issues that hold him back from being in real goat conversations for his era. He's impressively un-innovative in sound style, his rapping, flows really everything. You play someone who has never heard Cole and Friday Night lights song and a Fall-Off song nobody would being they were made 15 years apart. He also really struggles ... read more

McKinley Dixon - Magic, Alive!

One of the best produced rap albums I’ve heard in a long time. This recent run of rap releases has been unreal.

Mac Miller - Balloonerism

Macs estate should be the blueprint for how you handle posthumous releases. Both albums released by his estate are incredible, both albums do him and his story justice. They respect him and his ideas in his projects while giving the fans what they ask for. Funny Papers was leaked awhile ago and was a song fans were hoping was released, and now that its officially released, its a early song-of-the-year contender. A lot of estates lose the intended message of artists projects by chasing dollar ... read more

Juice WRLD - The Party Never Ends

Bibby, Benny Blanco, and the entirety of Grade A needa be put on trail for grave robbing. I’m not gunna act like I’m a big Juice fan but these guys are awful. First off, Benny is one of the kings pop radio garbage right with Jack Antonoff but while Antonoff somehow worked on GNX Benny made this shit. I don’t know how this guy is so bad at mixing still to this day, it’s honestly impressive he’s been in the industry this long and still can’t mix for the life of ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - GNX

First thoughts: This album has the west coast banger feel. He got a bit caught up in the success of not like us and tried on a few songs to replicate that moment to mixed success. On the other hand this album has the DAMN feel. It’s a bit inconsistent but has some incredible songs. Reincarnated is the song of the year right now, heart pt. 6 is a heart song so yk it’s gunna be good and gloria is a soul touching closer ft SZA.

Update: This album has really grown on me since release. ... read more

Linkin Park - From Zero

It’s solid. Put all the controversy aside it just sounds like a mix of LP eras with a new lead singer. Is she Chester? Definitely not, someone as great as him can’t just be replaced at will. Emily is definitely not a bad vocalist but replacing Chester is hard. Anyways the album could’ve been better, the middle is pretty lackluster and theres not much new compared to the bands final releases with Chester besides the aforementioned new voice. At this point the band feels ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - CHROMAKOPIA

87 -> 85 -> 81

Very good album. Really enjoyed the beginning, the stretch of “St. Chroma” all the way to “Darlin, I” is great. Then the album slows down and builds on the story and theme during the run of songs “Hey Jane” to “Judge Judy”, a stretch I think is a little lacking compared to the beginning, even though it’s still very interesting and lyrical. “Sticky” and “Balloon” in specific are definitely the ... read more

ts is so funny, I cant believe this is real. This album has so many layers even though its so simple and goofy. Its sucks but in a hilarious way

all honesty if you want to know what's wrong with modern country just listen to the album, still funny though

Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk

The fact this was done live is genuinely one of the greatest musical feats of all time. 2 hours of some of the most well layered and deep music you’ll ever hear done live with no mistakes. LONG SEASON is unreal, one of the best songs of all time. It’s genuinely mind blowing the live version is somehow better than the original studio version. It’s honestly one of if not the greatest live performance of all time and that doesn’t even bring up the other over hour-twenty of ... read more

How do you drop the same night as Tones and I and still have the worst album of the night

¥$ - VULTURES 2

Kanye couldn’t give less of a fuck. Resorting to AI verses? Fr? Like he actually released this? The subject matter on this project is all the same dumb shit from V1 just compiled together over more boring beats than the first. This album is just really really odd. The pacing, the weird ass songs like Bomb, Husband, Sky City etc. How do you have people like Peggy, Denzel, and Freddie Gibbs writing and producing and still get this shit. I can’t believe the fall he’s had.

JPEGMAFIA - I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU

Near flawless album. Right on par with Peggy's last project in my opinion. Peggy added to the insane mind-bending production he is known for with more Rock and Industrial influences. Abrasive and powerful guitar and synths. No time was wasted and not a moment was unenjoyable. There's not many if not anyone like him in the game right now, Peggy’s taken full control of this style of Experimental hip hop.

Denzel Curry - King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2
77

Ill keep it short. Denzel showed up again. Only issues I have are that the beats are very repetitive and there are too many features. Some lackluster performances are scattered sparsely throughout the album but overall another strong album in Denzel's discography.

JoJo Siwa - Guilty Pleasure

literally nothing redeemable about it. Just awful

Eminem - The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)

Honestly a mess. The concept was executed awfully. Him trying as hard as he can to be edgy and claiming the world plus the always offended and "woke" gen z want Slim canceled is so annoying an repetitive. The midget jokes, disability jokes, and trans jokes were so overdone. I understand its a part of the Slim Shady moniker but idc, its still bad. Along with this we got more terrible feature selection from Em (excluding JID) with awful, boring, and wordy hooks to go along with it. ... read more

Boldy James - Across The Tracks

Boldy's best album of the year so far. Boldy and Conductor both showed up. Great production Conductor, great rapping Boldy, about what you expect from both these two.

Camila Cabello - C,XOXO

Just as bad as everyone is saying. Drake continues his terrible stretch post beef with a pretty cringe-worthy feature on "HOT UPTOWN" with a equally as bad solo song "Uuugly". This album has almost no direction, incredibly generic pop instrumentation, and simply annoying vocals all the way through. This album is almost every bad pop stereotype bottled up and put in one album.
