I have sat with people that do not understand or appreciate the sound and history behind this album, usually being in North America. It is understandable, Grime can be an acquired taste at times and maybe like so many albums and artists before, it matters on the time period and sound at the time.

If this was a new artist, I would probably rate it lower. But the nostalgia of hearing those key production elements from MK, it keeps me respecting it a little more.
Given the title, and the amount of time, we are probably due another project very soon.
Or, they are fading out of what they had for so long.

I would say that, in an age where standing out is becoming ever more difficult, little things like using 808s just isn't going to break through anymore unfortunately.
Criticism is key, it helps artists learn and keeps music moving forward.
This LP feels too polished for something that just doesn't feel like it's had someone's ideas of years passed, poured into it. It needs to feel authentic and real and this just doesn't.

In terms of the current saturated Hip Hop scene of this certain sound, this LP stands out like a sore thumb. Every track is a perfectly nestled hit in a relentless flow of an incredibly relaxed attempt at a stand out album.
Planet Asia has definitely delivered the classic Hip Hop sound of the year. '1984' has been one of the strongest tracks of the year.

Goddamn James can you not just release the music you're good at?
I love an artist that changes up their sound, but I feel that when it's clearly not giving you the notoriety you originally achieved, then it's not the one.
This album is beautiful in a lot of ways, it's not poor at all. But it could have so easily been an incredible EP. The tracks are way too similar and don't evolve or bring anything new to the table in the sense of forward thinking beats which he so flourished in before. ... read more
