Awful mixing but it's weirdly good in some parts. You can tell he freestyled this whole mixtape. Very cool cover though. Unfortunately it is really difficult to listen to it due to the mixing. I would probably rate it 80+ if it was mixed well and the chops were cleaned up.
Favourite track: @rap or Holes (Outro)
No misses. Great production and lyrics with even production from eminem on i don't care. Even with a 1 hour 40 minute runtime I never got bored. That 4 track run between I dont care and I Hate Parties is also insanely good.
Relisten 97-100: This is slowly becoming my favourite project of his. There's so much energy and passion in the production and rapping. It is amazing song after amazing song for 100 minutes. Songs that I didn't like before like Go Amy (Amy's Rose) and ... read more
Very good mixing for a CH project and fun beats but it's too long for the quality of it. Even though this is an hour and a half long it's really entertaining and full of great soul beats. On this relisten I did realise that most of these beats are most likely either 9th Wonder beats or old beats.
Favourite track: The Popular Vote and Clusterfuck
Nice short EP but nothing special. Very similar to Hamilton. charles. It has the industry sound.
Favourite track: Down the Line
Best Charles Hamilton project in a while. Great production and ok mixing. Charles also sounds a lot better on this tape than he did on The Bipolar Sunshine. He missed the opportunity to use "Back outside is Hamilton launching"
Reliaten 85-88: I originally rated this 85 but I've been listening to this tape quite a lot. It's incredibly consistent, and beats are smooth and digestible, and Charles doesn't rap lazily. This might be an over exaggeration, but imo this is his ... read more
Not single skip and insane sampling. Literally a one of a kind mixtape. The rock samples mixed in with the soul samples create such a unique mix of songs.
Favourite Track: Pleasant Overthinking
Probably Charles' most entertaining mixtapes. There so much going on here with the sonic and 2000s pop samples he frequently uses. He puts so much energy and life into the verses and choruses and actually structures the songs properly.
Favourite track: Stir of Echoes or Sleeping Beauty
Great mixtape with greats beats. One of the best from his early years. 100% a must listen. Every song has a beautifully sampled beat, every song is structured well with great verses and choruses, and Charles and Hcho have great chemistry throughout.
Favourite track: Mt. Rushmore and Brazilian Crying Season
Peak production with a great concept and great lyrics. Charles does everything right. Every chorus hits and every verse carries the story. This is a masterclass in pop rap.
Favourite track: In Case It Doesn't Work Out
Quite long and uses a lot of old beats but I never got bored while listening. The songs that I don't recognise aren't that good either. Pretty much a compilation tape of old songs but with K Zeus. I don't really want to rate it that high because these are just old songs.
Favorite track: nyc rain (Uses beat of Brazilian Crying Season on Staff Development)
This is actually really good. It just proves he's always been a great rapper/producer. A very unique sound for the time using sped up pop samples which has become a big part of his sound.
Favourite track: Karen’s Song v3.1
100% my favourite Charles Hamilton Mixtape. Maybe not as good as The Pink Lavalamp but still no misses. Charles seems go go for a more commercial sound, it isn't as experimental his other projects, but the production is perfect. He doesn't miss at all with any chop or drum pattern.
Favourite track: Between The Honeymoon's Over and Starchasers
By far Charles's best project. It has all the emotion, lyricism and confidence of a rapper years into a commercial career but all in a debut project. It production is incredibly smooth and varied with him trying a lot of different styles..
Favourite track: Music (Intro)
It seems a bit rough around the edges when it comes to mixing but the abstract production never missed and Tony Newbury flowed brilliantly on them.
Reliaten 72- 76: The beats are actually quite catchy and the mixing isn't that bad. I think listening to projects like attpd 2 and Hov Kitty projects like this sound a lot better. There's actually a lot going on with the production.
Favourite Tracks: FOR THE MOMENT and POSITIVE SELF DESTRUCTION
Very underrated mixtape from Charles. It might not be up to par with his best work but still some solid tracks. Spanish Fly is the only trap song I've ever heard from him and even that wasn't bad.
Favourite track: SolarDiapers and In Alignment 1
