This album isn't as cohesive or impactful as some of Kendrick's previous releases, but I don't think it's supposed to be. While there are a few tracks that are emotional this project serves to just have fun and be a love letter to the west coast. A ton of fun to listen to.
Maybe I just don't get it. This album has some classics, but also some of the worst tracks Tyler has released in YEARS (Balloon). This album pulls me in and then pushes me right back out over and over. I want so desperately to love this project, but I don't. It just doesn't even come close to matching the consistency of any of Tyler's projects post Cherry Bomb. Chromakopia is not the next Mr Morale.
This project doesn't waste your time. Every second of it is a classic. The lyricism challenges the listener in a way I haven't heard in a while. Dyllie absolutely delivered lyrically and sonically. This is one of the most consistent CHH records I've ever heard, and one of the best Hip Hop records of the year.
Absolutely slaps and makes me feel like an angsty highschool lesbian. (I am a straight man)
Starts off incredibly strong and delivers some great indie pop songs, then morphs into more paramore fun angry songs, then ends on a heartbreaking note that gives me goosebumps every time.
A Dramatic stepdown in quality from Blood Bunny in every way imaginable. It's this weird Melanie Martinez ass horny hyperpop and I am not here for it. And Chloe has proven she can make GOOD hyperpop! Killbot fucking bangs
This album was a complete and utter disappointment to me when it dropped and going back to it now I like it even less.
Edit: I Think DRESS UP is genuinely one of the worst songs I've ever heard.
That one other person who reviewed this track and gave it a 70 must've been in a bad mood or something. This shit just BANGS! It's a ton of fun.
Absolutely adore this EP and it's their best work yet by far, but I fully believe it's only up from here too.
An extremely unique sound with an amazing amount of polish.
I do think it kinda goes down in quality toward the end. Blurt and Clue are both great songs, but they just hit nearly as hard.
Favorite Track: Risk
Least Favorite Track: Blurt
