Quadeca - Dark Magic

Really good! Interestingly laid back production that's pretty fun to listen to, the singing is really nice as well, and I love the instrumental and beat. But the intro is definitely my favorite part of it honestly, but I had fun. I'm not gonna act like I'm euphoric just from listening to him, I just really like his music. It's just a really damn fun pop song.

It's fun. It's happy. It's my childhood. Shut up and let me enjoy a good song.

Passion Pit - Gossamer

My old review sucked. Let's do this in more detail, so I can explain in great detail why this is Michael's most profound and gorgeous piece of songwriting. So, after Manners blew up and proved he has more than just Sleepyhead to his name, Passion Pit became a fairly big indietronica name. And with that came a lot of pressure. A lot of pressure to continue, to tour, to make new big songs, and our good friend Michael Angelakos found himself struggling further and further, which made his ... read more

This song isn't that bad guys

Chonny Jash - The Spider

Very bizarre and goes all over the place, but I kinda like it. Instrumental's a bit louder in the mix, but then again that's just the usual Chonny Jash package deal, I quite like his vocals here, and the song had me bobbing my head for most of it. It grew on me pretty quickly after a few relistens. Consider my interest piqued!

Fuck man, I'm sorry I didn't get to this sooner. But this came out RIGHT when I got super sick, and I've been sick for over a month now. Which meant I was barley able to enjoy any real music, or review stuff. So. Guys. guess what? I had super severe allergies keeping me down. Which explains so much. But that meant I wasn't able to properly review this super promising album. I was super excited, especially after ... read more

Let's do this one again. But no more bullshit.

9 Months. Trial and error, learning and playing by ear, and eventually escalating ideas of what should have been an EP, only to turn into some massive hour long project instead. I have a lot to say about my debut. And honestly. I feel like honesty is the best virtue I can have here, and I'm not going to beat around the bush. This album, is extremely personal to me. And it reflects my mental state throughout most of 2024, and 2025. ... read more

Both songs could've been put on the album, and wouldn't have felt like they dragged it out at all. But I CAN see why he didn't ultimately, but I'm just glad we get to hear them now. Fantastic album still.

ORIGINAL REVIEW

Ah Passion Pit, a band near and dear to my heart with how interesting of an indie pop project it is, the vocals, the production, everything about it just, appeals to me very strongly. And Manners is one of my favorite albums OF ALL TIME. So, interestingly, this was after the breakdown that was Gossamer, where Michael decided to get really serious and open about his bipolar disorder, which also led to tours being ... read more

HOLY SHIT THIS SONG IS AMAZING. I WAS WRONG. IT GREW SO HARD. BEST SONG OFF THE ALBUM.

Although far from the most mind-blowing Passion Pit song, this is still a REALLY DAMN GOOD pop song.

Owl City - Maybe I'm Dreaming

Continuing after Of June, we have Owl City's proper debut album, yes. Surprise surprise, he didn't start off with Ocean Eyes, that was an evolution of what he was building from Of June, and this is the next big step, and from what I can tell, it's a pretty well beloved album for Owl City standards, so if it can somehow sway a website that hates him more than anything, then I'm curious to see if this is really his best album or not. We'll have to see, but chances are ... read more

So, before I say anything. This album cover is gorgeous. And these genres have me nothing but curious, extremely curious actually. Seems like it's going to be really dark, really atmospheric, and really damn heavy. Which is enough to sell me on an album to put it lightly. I don't know much about who this is, what other music they've made, and I've never even heard of Doomgaze before, but that sounds awesome as ... read more

Chonny Jash - Never Meant To Know Reprise

I have a soft spot for his older style, even though objectively it's kind of ehhh quality-wise, but this? This genuinely feels like a huge step in production and performance. Yes it's still a bit chaotic and loud, but it feels a bit more focused, it's a lot more 'natural' sounding as well, since he's mostly singing in his normal voice here without too many filters, the drums are pretty much the only part I'd say sounds a bit loud, but then again, I listen to ... read more

Genuinely an amazing--s̶̶o̶n̶g̶(?????)-ALBUM., I love all the production choices and instrumentations, it's telling the weakest song here, is still instrumentally competent and a complete mindfuck, and is an instrumental. But so much goes on during this album, and it just, never stops when it gets started, and there's so many amazing songs on here, especially when it gets even heavier, but the softer parts ARE JUST AS AMAZING. The noises, the production, the performances, ... read more

So this is a pretty interesting little project, I can't say I have any real expectations, which is great, since that means I'm going in completely blind. So, I feel like the best way to go about most of these reviews if I don't have anything to say prior, is to just get into it. So let's get into the listening and see how I feel about each ... read more

I'm on a bit of a xavier listening spree, so I might as well review this one real quick as well. Likely would be fun to listen to anyways, so let's do this.

I like the opening, it's got some really pretty instruments during the first few seconds, and this intro is REALLY nice, and the way the beat fades in is super smooth, it meshes really well with the main melody, and it's a very chilled out and enjoyable little track, feels like something I'd have playing while ... read more

So this is the second of two eps that have been recently released, and this one seems to be a bit more normal, being largely more hip-hop focused, but I'm still excited ever since that last ep, since that previous one, the first part showed a LOT of promise and potential through the sudden genre changes it underwent. So. Let's not waste time, let's see if part 2 is even better or ... read more

"Meanwhile here I was, completely fine with that and actually loving most of it. i really liked how the instrumental turned out here, it was really cool. Definitely felt a bit more lively, which did make sense, I could definitely feel the dread slowly creeping in by the end, but it still had some comfort to it, which is pretty telling that an instrumental managed to convey almost all of that. Definitely requires some dedication to listen to, but I'd say it's well worth it"

"I finally rechecked the site, and I'm glad you loved the review man, was an awesome album! I actually did like Bedframe Morse, even if it's arguably the weakest, but I still did get why it was put there, it was pretty interesting, and I'd say it didn't take away from the album in any way at all, it was just, super damn nice. Really compliments the story you were writing. As for anything on my part. Yes actually, there's something... Pretty big planned. Glass Eyes was mostly just an experiment to see if I could make something, I'm working on another album right now in fact, it's gonna be pretty interesting. I don't know how long it'll end up being, but a couple of songs have already been written, I just gotta compose it now. :)"

"Very interesting interpretation! The album is definitely not casual listen friendly honestly, I might've gotten a bit carried away with the avant-garde nature, but I'm glad you enjoyed some parts however brief they may have been, it is a bit of a draining album, and you're definitely right about there being a story, honestly I'd argue you actually got pretty close with some of the interpretations, also never had my spoken word be called a gremlin voice before but I absolutely love it and will probably call it that now. You are right about the puzzle pieces being there though, the album is definitely more an experience than a fun thing you put on I'd say. But you're looking in the right direction, thanks for the awesome review! :)"
