i still have to completely understand the album, but the nice thing i figured out about it is that the free form freak-out series makes more and more sense the further you go down the album. it's complete freedom of 50 motherfuckers stuck in a room making a whole mess, i still have to understand why, but the further you go in the album the more it makes sense and the more you become part of it. it's fun
the album starts strong with "genesis", a bomb of a song that mixes a funk bassline and justice's usual electro house elements, making this track sound almost like future funk (which, considering when this album came out, is absolutely mind-blowing).
then "let there be light" is very interesting, managing to deliver a slightly calmer track where nothing is missing.
"d.a.n.c.e." is perhaps the iconic track of the record, bringing back the elements of ... read more
i mean it's got 10,000 days in the title so it's gotta be perfect
this guy istg. you did NOT come out of the beef with your head high, stop pretending you did, by sneak dissing kendrick throughout the whole ass album. also, what the fuck is up with little birdie? don't tell me the vocals are ai generated.
other than all of this, i predicted the rating of this album way before it came out. another mid work by a mid vocalist. nothing sticks out, everything is diluted.
this motherfucker dropped music 2, how in the fuck
actively going against zionist pigs, fuck you david, if you still had your ugly ass rings on your chin i'd fucking rip them off
lackluster, disappointing, flat album. such a shame, because all of these tracks can be so, so much more than unfinished, horribly mixed demos. this is not a revolutionary, boundary-pushing album like he always did. this is a lazy non-effort to put together some songs.
i like to think that kanye just forgot completely how to produce, mix and make proper tracks, and he's restarting from the ground up. in Donda the problem was that songs were too dragged out. now the problem is that the ... read more
this album introduced me to actually listening and analysing albums. the whole concept of the album is spot on, and each track is perfectly connected to one another. don't listen to the songs, listen to the album as a whole. consider A Thousand Suns as a huge 47 minute long masterpiece that is arguably, their best work in their entire discography and career.
the sole reason why i love listening to music. because one day i will always come back to this album and be blown away by the absolute level of greatness achieved here. this masterpiece has given so, so much to me it's crazy. there's no way i won't forget this album for the rest of my life, and the CD box has to be in the casket with me otherwise i. am. not. dying.
