Far from his best. Boring bars, boring flows. Lyrically, this is empty, misogynistic, corny, and cliche. Production-wise, there’s some amazing stuff on here, and it’s the only reason I’ll be coming back to some of these songs. Never ever has production carried an album THIS hard for me. Not to mention, this album is SO bloated - what the fuck do you mean there’s a “Director’s Cut on the way??” Fuck off
Some bangers, some meh, and I have been conditioned by the incredible live performances to think that each of these songs are way better than they actually are. That being said, three years later, Chang’e still pisses me off
Bland x12 and any song that starts to sound interesting goes on like 45 seconds too long. Frustrating
It very well could be nostalgia, but listening to this in full once more... there isn't a single bad song on here. Every track is catchy and impressive. A must listen
Phantom Island was just okay but I’m glad it took one for the team because Flight b741 wouldn’t be such a solid album otherwise so for that I’m thankful
I haven’t had such a visceral reaction to a first listen of an album since I was in middle school listening to The Powers That B for the first time. Around either Believe or Guesthouse, I spent a lot of the remaining time listening with my jaw open and completely mesmerized. It’s warm, it’s magical, it’s beautiful. This album is going to go CRAZY in the fall
probably the most relistenable album of all time - still haven’t gotten sick of it since it came out a couple years ago. pure motion and aura. fucking rips
fav tracks: motor spirit, gila monster, dragon, flamethrower
would probably go hard in a sweaty dark room
fav tracks: big poe, ring ring ring, don’t tap that glass / tweakin’
this rating is only going to go up and it still almost feels like recency bias in my mind and I’m trying to restrict the score but god this is incredible
some of these songs feel magical bro it’s so good
fav tracks: These Things Happen, Backpedaling, Sore Losers, U&I 1991
