This album doesn't have any structure and thats such a good thing actually. Really innovative music that keeps surprising you and never once gets boring. Very, very smooth vocals compliment the chaotic and somewhat random tracks to create a cohesive yet completely disparate album.
I think I caught a hint of the mario bros underground theme in the bassline in snowbirds. Cute little album, nothing too crazy, just some funky guitars and bouncy drums.
Vocals teeter between being annoying and charming. More impactful lyrics could help elevate it to a consistently pleasant experience, but as is I can appreciate what good there is, primarily fun hooks and and catchy tracks.
Good zoning out music, and if you give it the ear to listen it rewards you with sweet and comforting lyrics.
Declan is clearly trying a bunch of different stuff with this album. Some of it works, some of it really doesn't. I appreciate an artist that tries to push their own boundaries and the good on this album outweighs the bad. Hopefully in the future he can figure out which of his experiments work the best to make something a tad more cohesive. Best song on the album is Nothing Works easily.
