the context surrounding the album is more interesting than the music that accompanies it, but still a very good listen.
the utter scale of this album is so ambitious that it was almost daunting for me to even fully listen to it. i have yet to hear an album that is more dynamic than this.
billy woods feels like the crucial voice that we need within the current political climate. brutal lyrics that don't shy away from the horrors of america and the atrocities it is complicit in. billy woods is not only incredible in regards to his commentary towards global politics, but also at creating engaging stories centered around his personal experience. its also a very cohesive listen, with consistently great production throughout. absolutely album of the year so far. i need to listen ... read more
a great listen, but i feel that i am devaluing this project by not giving a proper listen to the majority of drain gang's catalog.
ken carson attempts to pave his own way within opium and succeeds on occasion. these interesting moments are often overtaken by the monotony of ken carson's static delivery.
