Ethereal, aggressive, and sexy. An album that borrows elements from many of the group’s past works while firmly keeping its sonic identity. Songs that dive deep into the shoegaze atmosphere, with Carpenter’s mammoth guitars and Chino’s soft voice. Lyrically, this album feels like a journey—almost spiritual and deeply intimate. A great record for both old-school fans and newcomers.

Undoubtedly one of the best jazz musicians with fine touches of modern bossa nova, blending melancholic songs with more upbeat and uplifting ones, while always keeping the passionate and romantic tone that Laufey has consistently established throughout her career. I’ve always thought The Armed was the embodiment of “experimental hardcore,” and this album proves it. It manages to explore and balance the melodic and cleaner tendencies they’ve been developing over their last two albums with the aggressive, mathy sound of their roots—plus, they decided to keep the glitch and hyperpop influences and put them to excellent use.

Perfect shoegaze album from start to finish (or nu-gaze, if you want to be more specific). I really like Wisp’s previous work, but this one… oh, this one, she really nailed it.
Perfect layers with a solid mix. Everything is loud and bright, creating a beautiful wall of sound where every note is expressive, yet it can be calm and peaceful at times. What did I just say? It’s a perfect shoegaze album.
