Holy shit this album is bad. Rings of Saturn has made great Deathcore but this is just a horrible mix of trap and deathcore. I loved Lugal Ki En and Ultu Ulla but this is something I can't even bear listening to anymore than two of the songs in the album. Personal favorites are none at all.
I mean.. I am a huge fan of this album but it really is quite boring. Varg really cooked on the riffs and overall the instrumentals are great but the production is uhh... It's understandable that considering it's not from the newest end of BM that the production was quite not there, but it really has a sort of it's own feel to it that it's really raw. Vocals are really reminiscent of something you hear in DSBM so this is sort of the first DSBM album but not really as it's not intentional. ... read more
I was never really after DSBM after diving into black metal, but this album really caught my attention. The really rough vocals with awesome guitar work paired with some kick ass drums. Personal favorites from this are Death Addiction and I Left This Life To Rot. Lyrics on this album are all-around really extreme and dark, which really brings out quite the emotions. Paired with the vocalist's vocals makes for some really great DSBM overall.
Recommended as an introductory to DSBM.
Symphonic deathcore has to be one of my favorite genres I've discovered. Not only does it have the heavy vocals I'm looking for, it has a really interesting mix of symphonic metal and deathcore. The trilogy is one of the most emotional and amazing pieces of deathcore I've ever listened to.
