I’m usually not a big fan of Black Thought because even though his lyricism can be the cream of the crop I feel like his delivery is often lacking, and for me delivery is equally important as lyricism. He barely changes his tone or tempo even if the beat is more aggressive or softer, and when he tries his delivery seems like a copy of what he should sound like. On this album however, the production is more subtle and melodic mixing incredibly well with his lyrically dense style of rapping. The combination of grand, atmospheric beats, with elegant and intelligent verses makes it sound as though you’re listening to an epic tale by a legendary figure. There were a few weaker songs but overall a great album.
