Maybe I’m just not as familiar with emo as I thought I was but these are legitimately the worst written lyrics I’ve ever heard and I’m not exaggerating. Like, sure Tom Macdonald other stuff is more offensive but this is just. Wow. Almost nothing redeemable about it lyrically. Sonically also mostly garbage but at least it’s kinda catchy. I guess. I’ve never seen something so frequently and consistently alternate between 7/10 pretty decent early-2010’s pop and 2/10 disgusting melodrama with the worst kind of maximalism. Also weirdly millennial coded.
Also, even when the tunes are pretty decent like ‘we are young’ or ‘some nights’, fun. almost always end up putting their feet in their mouths with the latter’s choice to include the phrase “Jack my style” along with some ... read more
