I have to admit, I judged a book by its cover when I picked this up for a listen. I mean Rocky having Tea with Freddy. Nice. Upon listening I realized I found a gem here. It's smooth and there is some deep rooted talent here. Color me impressed. Great job.
This is gritty and gruesome rock n roll. Something I haven't heard in years and It's just offensive sounding from the get go! so why the good score, because we haven't heard this genre of Gritty rock in a while. At least I haven't. I listened through a few times It's just good solid Rock n Roll.
He is experimenting here. Either you like that or you don't. I don't and I doubt you will either. Don't discredit Knopfler though, the man is a gift to our ears.
Listen, I realize 30 is low. But listen. I have Xavier Rudd Records. I have seen the guy in concert. I have followed him for years and I am a fan. You're going to be hard pressed to find his stuff being "bad" His Album Solace, has stayed in my Iphone through several years and I'll put it on anytime regardless of mood. Food in the Belly is even better than Solace. I could listen to Food in the belly 3 or 4 times in a row start to finish and not be unhappy about it. White Moth is hit or ... read more
This was a solid score start to finish, I felt like maybe the pop stations should have gotten a hold of this and maybe if marketed correctly it could have the success of A Train or Maroon 5. Nice Solid from start to finish, I couldn't help but to think about Neon Trees or Phoenix. The Cover is clever and humorous.
This was first experience with Lonelady and I was impressed. A nice Funky Flow that gives you a solid feeling that you didn't waste your money or time on this one. It Has great tunes that get you going and keep you happy until the end.
For what it was, it wasn't horrible. However, it was bland. When someone comes along and changes a Genre a lot of people copy that feel on their records. Liz Longley didn't exactly do that, but she didn't exactly break out of the Nashville standard mold. I'm not certain that you couldn't find someone twice as good in a bar on a Friday night. She isn't bad though, I think we have yet to see her best work. I feel a breakout album from her in the future.
Overall, it's a descent listen, but don't expect a range of sound from this album. Some of it even sounds over produced and almost like The artist is uncomfortable singing her songs. It sounds forced and lacks spirit. Especially as it dragged on past number 8. Lack Luster attempts are sad. Check out her 2013 Album. Much better.
One of the better Hip Hop Album releases. People Praise the like of Kanye, but he doesn't hold a flame to these guys.
The Mountain Goats continue to surprise with a gritty acoustic background that churns the pace of every song with accidental grace. Now that I got the load of bullshit that reviewers say out of the way. This album was fun and witty, I loved the Pro wrestling theme behind it as I am a fan. I first heard this on The Colt Cabana Podcast. Great stuff.
Although the music itself is bland and starts to run into the next, the writing is original, fun, with a slice of cynicism on the side. It's a rare bird in the music biz and should be celebrated.
Father John Misty is never disappointing, at least not so far. lots of these songs leave you feeling like you experienced something right along with the band.
