GNX is almost the perfect ode to the West Coast that people have been waiting for. A really well produced, and well put together project that I think captures the spirit of west coast bars perfectly. There's some instant classics on this, and there's maybe one or two that are a bit forgettable. However, I think this project stacks up very strongly with his catalog, and with hip hop.
Never thought I'd actually want to hear more from Logic, but he FINALLY seems to understand his own music. Furthermore, he seems to finally understand how to utilize the criticism he has received in the past. He goes in on this project, the best rapping he's done, the opening track is my favorite, and overall, it's a great project. Can't believe I'm saying this, but if he continues in this direction I am excited to see what he can do.
I don't think this project hits as hard for me as Scarin the hoes...but I still enjoy it very much. The production is incredible, probably the best on any JPEG project. IDK really what it is for me though that keeps it below Scarin the hoes, I think I may just need to relisten.
Unfortunately this album has no direction. Sabrina seems to be falling into the unfortunate cycle that most pop artists fall into by failing to recognize that music needs some kind of direction. Espresso, and Don't Smile; to me, are the best 2 tracks, other than that, I fail to recognize what the goal of this project is.
