LUCKI - Dr*gs R Bad
80

This album simply goes hard. Best production Lucki has hopped on in years. Plus he's absolutely sliding on these beats. Some of his flows go insanely crazy (shoutout 'Supertune!') and he sounds very much alive throughout most of the project. As for the features, great verses from Veeze and Baby, though Rylo's was a bit forgettable. Tbh I always knew he had one in him, but wasn't expecting this to be it. So happy to be wrong on this one lol...

The Strokes - Falling out of Love
NR

The thing is... he doesn't need to do this. He has experimented plenty throughout his career and even messed with autotune during The Voidz album cycles. Julian might be ruining some really great ideas here. I like the production a lot. I just don't want to hear his voice drowned in some wacky autotune...

Gal Costa - Gal
83

The Voidz - Like All Before You

I mean... I can kinda understand where Julian was trying to go with this record. It's supposed to be this retro-futuristic trip of sorts, yet it ends up being more of a snooze fest than anything else. The autotune is very heavy on Julian's voice for a good bit of the album. It's also a very generic take on making a psychedelia/synthpop ballad. Oh, and the AI cover art just adds insult to injury...

Yes we do love you Dennis Rodman <3

The dichotomy between this cover art and the music presented single-handedly made me listen to this record. Didn't want to feel this sad but I guess it's also really beautiful. It's been a really weird moment in my life. A lot of change is happening quickly as I move into the position of a functional adult and not just another uni student. This record reminds me that I still have much to learn in terms of letting go of the need to control ... read more

Brandão85 - ISSO É TRAP VOL. 2
79

MIKE - POMPEII // UTILITY

Ok... I've been sitting with this record for a week or so without giving it a proper rating or review, so here are some quick thoughts…

Just by seeing the average rating, you can kinda get a grasp of what type of project this is. Earl and Mike, even though they're always on some funny shit, recognized that this was probably going to be a very divisive record. And indeed it is. Surf Gang's production is lightweight and atmospheric, almost as carefree as Earl and ... read more

Isaiah Rashad - SAME SH!T

It's truly a shame that Zay had to be put in the label freezer so many times for other great artists. Real gem of a rapper...

Nine Vicious - EMOTIONS
45

Mediocre raps, consistent yet one-dimensional production and a bloated tracklist. This should never have been as long as it is. Even the good tracks get lost in the sequence of unfinished cuts and songs that feel more like really long freestyles that go nowhere fast.

Edward Skeletrix - Slavery
NR

This is actually a really beautiful track! Ngl tho that AI video is so unserious it almost blows the whole thing for me...

Febem - BRIME!!
80

MILLION DOLLA' MANSION WOW

I love how Che's always changing up his sound and trying different things. Even if it's not amazing, he's always keeping it fresh and interesting. This EP has great noisy production, some genuinely funny bars and a really expressive vocal performance. It just clicks... Another Che W.

Kanye West - BULLY

Idk what to make of this mess tbh… I wrote this on the fly and didn’t think it was going to get as big as it did. Make of this what you will.

I’ve never hidden that I was once a big Ye (fka Kanye) fan. During an extensive period of my adolescence, I was listening to his music for comfort. Discovering his music was almost an eye-opening experience. I didn’t know mainstream music could be so expressive. Still, the following years would make me see Ye in a light I ... read more

Ok… so quick thoughts on this one cuz I don’t have much time.

This album is the ultimate musical flex... goes sooo hard and sounds so complete. When she first announced the tracklist I was kinda disappointed, since 3 of the songs had already been released as singles and 'Music' and 'Do It' even got a 7-inch vinyl release. But sitting with this project over the weekend was all I needed to see I was wrong.

So happy with the more straightforward ... read more

A surprisingly solid record that I didn't expect to like at all. Was casually listening to 'brainstØrm' on SoundCloud and it just suddenly clicked for me…

Firstly, his flows and tone are so effortless and even carry a unique swagger to them. I don’t see anybody in the current underground scene that sounds like this. There are other members in the Øway collective that use similar flows, but vocally I still think that diamond* is the ... read more
