After I found Illinois, I didn't think I would find something I liked more. Surprisingly, this album reached me even more, though mostly for the instrumentals and lyrics. So basically everything.
This album was one of many to introduce me to a range of music I could never live without afterwards. To find the truths of yourself in a place you did not live in, that you are not from, but some of your most important memories always took place there, the place you can summon up for a dozen or more stories; there is something transcendental about that.
It also sounds really good.
I love this. It feels like a return to OK Orchestra in terms of production and lyrics with some vibes from Maybe Man. The Big Goodbye is the definite stand-out, but I like the rest as well. I'm Sorry You Went Crazy was okay.
This album has been stuck in my head for almost a month at this point. The Mind Electric gave me chills.
If On Melancholy Hill was an album. The most happily melancholic beach day of your life.
