Will miss Sprain dearly, but god damn man, I like this.
It's VERY clear that this was designed to have no direction. To be something that moves radically at will without any regard for the potential outcome.
To do a dreaded comparison, this reminds me of Rush's Fountain of Lamneth. While both are big pieces of music with their own themes, they don't feel like ONE big thing, but rather a collection of chapters. Even if you were to compare this to the big noisy boys like GYBE ... read more
A Youtuber album that has more effort put into it than KSI's entire discography.
homaphooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobia...
From the first bar to the last "The New Sound" with its narratives, production and playing make it a thematic and complicated album that gets better with every listen. From the technical riffs in "Blues" to the jams in the title track and "Bongo Season", and the thematic songs like "Holy, Holy", "Terra" and "The Magician", this album remains scattered but tied together with the linear story of the dangers that come with Incelibacy and ... read more
This isn't Jack White, former member of The White Stripes. This is Jack White of The White Stripes. Easily the best rock release to me so far, and one the rawest things Jack has ever released.
I remember I saw you on Fifth Ave with your homies Kendrick and Aubrey
I was thinkin' like, "Damn, your new song trash"
But I wanted your Grippy specifically, hmm
Easily my favourite of the trilogy. Don't get me wrong, I love The Glowing Man, but the anger and energy of The Seer is something that I don't see can ever be replicated again. The Apostate proves that, feeling like a full transformation between physical forms both as a song, and for Gira. The anger, confusion, and darkness is to me a bridge between early and 2010s Swans, and I love The Seer for it.
Doesn't beat Swans Are Dead, but to me is my person favourite Swans live album. A great showcase of Swans' return at the time, and the sound they would move onto from 2012-2016. The Seer (Intro) / I Crawled is still one of my favourite live things ever.
Great psych LP to walk to. It may be me, but I like how the bass and kick drum are in the center of the vocal mix, making it feel like you can feel your own heartbeat when you're on a hike.
I was expecting “Digital Nightmare” to tend to move a little away from the synth sound TWRP is known for. They didn’t do that, but this is still a good time. This starts off with a short instrumental, then goes through the topics of how disconnected people can be online, as well as how parasitic the internet can be. I think there are some bangers and even some new stuff here, but I have mixed feelings on parts of the album. It’s also the most clean-sounding TWRP has been ... read more
