Such a quiet beautiful album, taking the best of what Beirut has to offer. Gets better every time I listen to it.
this is that album that I listen to and wonder why the hell it hadn’t crossed my path sooner. i love its indifference; it’s cheeky, at times sensitive, sarcastic, never too serious, just the right amount of esoteric and rock and roll wrapped up in 30 mins. “It’s Art” first caught my attention for its raw-ness, but after diving into the rest of the album it’s just par for the course.
you might think I’m vain, but I’m calling your bluff. listen to this record under the context of their classic work and you’ll be disappointed. forget that, this record stands by itself as a well-crafted and complete rock album that tells a story with an edge only the pixies can achieve
breathe of fresh air. this album is so chill, just easy to listen to, sometimes catchy, a bit unpredictable. not trying to be more than that.
Every time I listen to this record it gets better. It has the classic Alt-j styling but with layers of life and memory. With obvious overtones of love, family, reminiscence and love lost, there is a depth I really enjoy. And the stylistic changes from song to song have grown heavily on me. Losing My Mind is just perfect. If you’re hating on this record and not actually paying attention to the lyrics, you’re missing out.
