As someone who never really got into one direction, or followed them particularly closely until they started releasing their own solo albums, Louis went from "guy who wouldn't really stick to a genre" to "oh okay I see where he's going" to now being pretty pleased with a lot of what he puts out - Faith in the Future is the most aligned album of his thus far, and he's shown great growth in his songwriting and vocal abilities. Genuinely one of my favorite live show albums! The energy they brought to each of the tracks is electric - breathing a new kind of life into tracks that I had otherwise thought forgettable. I think it's also the first time I reach for a live version of a track as opposed to the recorded version - songs like Everybody Lost Somebody and Wild Heart just hit different on this album. Absolutely love it.

Fun album! Is it cringe at times! 100% - but what is AJR if not cringe, but free?

Some songs feel a bit too generic/forgettable, such as "The Entertainment's Here" and "Wow, I'm Not Crazy", and for some reason "100 Bad Days" and "Break My Face" feel like they're almost the same song? I believe this is one of AJR's better albums, while also being one of their more disjointed ones. And some may believe that AJR makes music solely to torture people and music critics alike, I don't really think that's so? I believe that AJR's music has its niche, and that it deserves to be here just as much as any other. Perhaps it's not for you, and that's okay! That's the beauty of music, and there being such a wide variety of genres and sub-genres to listen to.
