Stop dropping heat, please, I don't want to be a twenty-øne pilots fan.

Wondering how long its gonna be before his hard drive gets checked

Sleep Token - Even in Arcadia

This is like if you fed Take Me Back to Eden through an AI and told it to make it sound more like Glass Animals. Also I happen to like Vessel's vocals but they sound REALLY grading on this project.

Disclaimer: I am a Sleep Token fan, but this ain't it. Feels very much like they're just capitalizing on how big the last album was and are just doing it again but worse.

Origami Angel - Somewhere City

This is the kind of album that makes you think that everything is going to be okay.

jschlatt - A Very 1999 Christmas

We are so many levels of irony deep at this point that I cannot distinguish between joke and reality

That being said. Wonderful voice. Would listen to curled up next to a cozy fire on a snowy evening.

Kendrick Lamar - GNX
90

People are overhating this album bc it's not another TPAB or GKMC and that's honestly tragic. This isn't supposed to be a super deep project, it's a bunch of extremely well written and low-key hip-hop/r&b tracks that you can play at parties. That in no way diminishes the quality of the album, it goes extremely hard and proves that Kendrick doesn't have to invent the wheel to make bangers.

Highlights: "luther", "TV off", "reincarnated", ... read more

Denzel Curry - KING OF THE MISCHIEVOUS SOUTH

Solid additions to an already solid album. This album reminded me of "ZUU" in a lot of ways, really feeling like an homage to Denzel's influences while also just being fun and banging. Is it as deep or introspective as "Melt My Eyez See Your Future"? No, but it doesn't have to be. Denzel proves on this album that he doesn't have to be getting at complex themes and narratives to write banging music.

Linkin Park - From Zero

This is probably the safest album LP could have came back with, and that is both a compliment and an insult. The songs that are really good are basically just rehashes of old songs ("Heavy is the Crown" sounds like if you put "Bleed It Out" and "Faint" into a blender) and the rest of the album is the epitome of mid - not good enough to listen to outside the album, but not bad enough to laugh at or remember. Don't get me wrong, I don't think this is nearly ... read more

Poppy - Negative Spaces

Friendship ENDED with Bring Me the Horizon, now Poppy produced by Jordan Fish is my best friend.

As a pretty big Bring Me fan who was somewhat disappointed with Jordan Fish's departure from the band, which no doubt impacted the rollout of their last album Nex Gen, I am so happy to see Jordan return to the genre with Poppy and kick some ass while doing it. This album is everything I would have wanted out of a modern nu-metal/metalcore album and then some, proving that Jordan's absence ... read more

Bring Me The Horizon - POST HUMAN: NeX GEn

If there ever was an album that myself and many other scene kids could have been more hyped for, it was the long awaited sequel to 2020s "Post Human: Survival Horror". For context, Bring Me the Horizon has been arguably my favorite band since the release of said EP, which elegantly fused nu-metal with BMTH's signature metalcore sound, foreshadowing the rise of a "new" nu-metalcore genre as other bands rushed to further innovate this sound. BMTH is a band that, for the past ... read more

Knocked Loose - Suffocate

Knocked Loose are 3 for 3 on these new singles. Everyone jokes about how they get heavier each time but they really do, every subsequent song from this album gets meaner and groovier. AOTY incoming??

Sleep Token - Take Me Back to Eden
62

While this may not be Sleep Token's debut album, 2023's "Take Me Back to Eden" was, for many (myself included), a first foray into their newly popular take on metalcore, one that incorporates elements of modern pop and R&B into a sound that sounds more Top 40 than it does anything metal. However, the production and construction of these songs are what keep this album from fading into obscurity, with viral songs like "The Summoning" incorporating both metalcore breakdowns ... read more

Bring Me The Horizon - POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR
95

My personal favorite project by Sheffield rockers Bring Me the Horizon. Between the glitchy, maximalist production and songwriting pulling heavily from the best of 2000s nu-metal, "Post-Human: Survival Horror" has the band's tightest track list period. The album (EP?) blends more hard-core elements on tracks like "Dear Diary," with Oli's vocals sounding more desperate and anguished than ever. The song "Teardrops" reminds me of Linkin Park at their best, the hook ... read more

Green Day - Saviors

You know, my expectations were really low going into this thing, and I have to say that I was proven wrong somewhat, as this is definitely better than the previous album, 2020s "Father of All Motherfuckers". That being said, Green Day still falls into the same trap they've been falling in for the past decade, with songs that just blend together with the same tired radio rock sound they've been doing. Besides the occasional hit with "Dilemma" and "Suzie Chapstick", ... read more

Green Day - Dookie

Peak pop punk right here. Every song on here is loaded with personality, catchy hooks, and infectious riffs that are complimented by tight, thoughtful production. A common complaint this album gets is the redundancy of some of the non-singles, but even on repeat listens I find myself getting songs like Pulling Teeth and Sassafras Roots stuck in my head for the rest of the day. Especially compared to some of their later work, this album deserves all of the praise it has gotten and then some.

Porter Robinson - Cheerleader

Solid electropop banger. Hadn't heard of Porter Robinson before this, what a way to be introduced. Excellent production complements a very catchy song with great songwriting. Will have to listen to more of this guy!

Trippie Redd - genre : sadboy

Former MGK dick rider here. This along with 2022's "Mainstream Sellout" have made me see the error of my ways. Bad in all the embarrassing ways and none of the funny ones. How do you even release this without a hint of irony? No originality, no thought, just filler. The only song I remember distinctly is "Struggles" due to that AWFUL whistle. There is nothing good here. Avoid.

Alpha Wolf - A Quiet Place to Die
85

Ever heard of nu-metalcore? No? Well, then this is your place to start. On "A Quiet Place to Die", Alpha Wolf is out for blood, with some of the heaviest djent style riffs I have ever heard on a project like this. The album starts out swinging with the self-titled opener, building a terrifying ambience with chopped drum machines, winding synths, and Lochie Keough's signature rage-induced yells. The momentum built keeps getting faster on the first half of the album, with tracks like ... read more

Alpha Wolf - Half Living Things
70

It has been 4 years since Alpha Wolf dropped their genre defining opus, 2020's "A Quiet Place to Die", and while this new album may not have the cohesion the previous project had, it still brings, for the most part, what fans have been wanting: heavy riffs and heavier breakdowns. In some regards, Alpha Wolf have made their heaviest tracks yet, with songs like "Haunter" capturing a horror movie aesthetic with its unnerving synths and raw emotional lyrics. The breakdowns on ... read more
