Soul crushingly dark album. The production fits the songs so well, and Beth gives some of her best vocal performances yet. Even as a drastic departure from their previous style, it's their best album.
Favorites: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11
Track 1: Starts off so creepy, turns into this mournful and defeated piece. Crazy work 9 or 10
Track 2: Eerie. The tonal whiplash between verses and bridges makes my hair stand up. 9
Track 3: This song sounds how black and white night vision looks, muted and bleak. 8 or 9
Track 4: Very different. The soft/loud dynamics works well on here. 8
Track 5: Uncanny verses and super ominous chorus. Love the percussion 9 or 10
Track 6: Good lord 10
Track 7: Brilliant sequencing, a little eye in the storm. Creepy as hell too. 8
Track 8: The climax of the album. So dark and scary. 10
Track 9: The last like 3 minutes are glorious 8 or 9
Track 10: Love the lush piano on top of this weird ass instrumental. The final moment of hope. 9
Track 11: Beth sounds so defeated. Insane way to end the album. 9
