What is does is certainly not revolutionary in the world of post-rock, and has been imitated countless times. But it does it so ridiculously well, and "Your Hand in Mine" makes me feel about such insane emotion, it's hard to describe. Its perfect for what it is
"Reptile" is Periphery's best, most ambitious track ever. And using it to start a record is so ballsy, and is pulled off so well, that it sets the bar for the rest of the album ridiculously high. There are some of Periphery's weaker moments on this album, but it has other tracks b beyond "Reptile" that live in the absolute upper echelon for me, including "Its Only Smiles", "Satellites", and to a lesser extent "Follow Your Ghost"
Not Periphery's best album imo, but a very good album nonetheless. Keeps much of the adventurous spirit that the band had explored on tracks like "Reptile" on P4, expanding on more high-concept, longer tracks that use a variety of references to other works and orchestral interludes.
