Their best work. Adventurous song structures that feel fluid and cohesive, amazing musicianship, production that is not overly compressed, and the best balance of complexity and simplicity on any Animals record. A good time front to back.

Favorite tracks: Arithmophobia, Inner Assassins, The Brain Dance, Apeirophobia

Listening to this critically is a point of frustration for me. These are some of the best song structures and ideas this band has ever had, but the compression at points is so overdone that the sound of it is horrible. I gave many of these songs high ratings but had to bump them down because the production can be so bad.

Basically great ideas, mind blowing performances and musicianship, but bad production.

Favorite songs: Conflict Cartography, Monomyth, Asahi/The Problem of Other Minds

When it’s good it’s great. When it’s not, it feels fragmented and the climaxes feel unearned. Overall a good listen.
