If I wanted some mixture of post-rock and metal, bands like Isis and Neurosis are great, but they've made their own genre that's mostly separated from everything else. Deafheaven manage to balance the sweet melodic/dramatic elements from newer post-rock music with the rough sounds of metal. It's pretty tame, less than Opeth levels of intensity, but it's enough to keep the album interesting.
