Iron Maiden - Killers

Another Iron Maiden album that gets a (perhaps overly) high rating from me-- funnily enough, it gets the same rating that I gave their debut album. Not sure how that worked out. Regardless, it's time to discuss Killers.

Killers is an often-overlooked work from Maiden that marks the end of the Di'Anno era. Likewise, it also proves that this era certainly has its place amongst the history of Iron Maiden. It builds upon the strong foundations laid down in their debut. One of the strongest ... read more

Alright. It's been a minute since I've reviewed anything (been busy, I know y'all understand), but let's go ahead and crank this one out because I've been sitting on it for awhile.

I have one dogshit take about this album: I actually think Earthquake could be mid to decent if the lead singer wasn't screaming like... that... and if they took out that weird cheerleader breakdown section. That aforementioned section speaks to a larger problem that plagues the entire album. Nothing works, and ... read more

Hey y’all. I know it’s been a minute. Life has gotten in the way here lately… I know some of us can relate. I also made the decision that I want to try and put more effort into my reviews by spending more time with each album and perhaps conducting some research (references are listed at the end). Nonetheless, I finally found a band whose discography I want to take the time and listen to in order… except I cheated and listened to Powerslave first. Next time, I will ... read more

Megadeth - Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?

This review may actually be quite difficult for me to write for multiple reasons:
1. I took some Zzzquil and I am about to fall asleep.
2. This is totally different than any Megadeth I've ever heard.

As I've briefly touched upon in my previous reviews, I listened to Megadeth post Rust In Peace (CTE and Youthanasia) before this album or the aforementioned work itself. At first, my opinion was skewed more towards their later/more commercialized works that I just mentioned because honestly? I'm a ... read more

Mid. As. Fuck. Review over.

Okay, let me actually be serious for a second. I only listened to this because my boyfriend wanted me to. Not sure why-- he's a 90s rock and rap kind of guy. Not sure where this absolute non-starter of an album fits into his tastes, but nonetheless, that's how I ended up here.

My biggest problem is that her lyricism is lauded as some Harvard-level shit that only a galaxy mind could handle. I guess my graduating GPA of 3.2 still doesn't make the cut. I'm sure it's ... read more

A very interesting choice for my second-ever Megadeth album. I started with Countdown To Extinction for... no particular definable reason. I could have gone back in time and listened to Rust In Peace next (not sure why I didn't!), but instead I ended up here. I will say that the enjoyable moments on this album are even more enjoyable than those I had in CTE. More earworms, more riffs to get stuck in your head at 3 AM, and even more interesting vocal inflections from Dave.

My personal opinion ... read more

Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction

This album marked two separate firsts for me-- my first metal album and my first Megadeth album! For those reasons, I'm a bit biased and this album will always hold a special place in my heart. There are two major reasons why I can appreciate this project (aside from the music just being kickass in general):

1. Songs that are relatable --> Of course, these would vary person to person, but for me, Sweating Bullets (talks about anxiety/mental illness) and Captive Honour (discusses the US ... read more
