Knocked it out of the park again. The singles are better within the context of the album as well.
Though not as consistent as Yellow House or Veckatimest, Painted Ruins is another outstanding addition to an already outstanding discography.
Top Tracks: Four Cypresses, Three Rings, Cut-Out, Sky Took Hold
I haven't had a chance to let it sink in yet, but first listen blew me away. The emotions felt throughout the album are real. Stunningly beautiful.
Pure pop gold. I listened 5 times in a row when it came out and still can't get it out of my head. This track make's you think, "How have we gone 16 years without new Avalanches?" Credit to Danny Brown and MF DOOM for the killer verses.
A gorgeous album that take's elements from previous records yet sound's completely unique. Those who enjoy Radiohead's more upbeat music rather than their mellow tracks may not enjoy, but those who can appreciate quiet beauty will be rewarded.
Killing it, as usual. Tracks 2, 7 and 8 are standouts. We're lucky to be around for this genius. Is that too much...?
Not as genre changing or revolutionary as other albums in the Kanye discography, but another phenomenal album. Somewhat all over the place, but always ambitious, TLOP delivers on the hype.
When my friend called me at 11:30pm to tell me that TPAB had dropped early, I immediately threw it on. Then took a break and listened to it a second time. The high expectations I had for this album were blown away. It incorporates so many different genre's seamlessly, with Kendrick's masterful storytelling weaving through the beats. The subject matter is so relevant to the time, tying it to some of the other all time great hip hop albums. King Kendrick has done it again.
