Kanye West - The College Dropout

My favourite (?) album from Kanye. Kanye's ability to go from producer to artist is shown on several songs on this album. Through The Wire is one of the greatest rap performances in history. The way he's able to rap while having his jaw wired shut is better than most other artists while fully healthy. While this album does have funny lines like "Got a light-skinned friend look like Michael Jackson, Got a dark-skinned friend look like Michael Jackson", it touches on serious ... read more

Disappointing from Travis, his worst project by far. While I dont mind Travis' use of autotune in the majority of his songs, it is unbearable on this album. Production on this album is good for the most part, but unfortunately it can't save the album from confusing songs like "SHYNE".

Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers

My personal favourite from Kendrick. An experimental album that worked for me. It explores some of the worst moments in his life like on "Mother I Sober" and his life from 2017-18 (Damn and the Black Panther Album) to 2022. A lot of people struggle to come back to the album after the first listen, due to the sadness and deepness of the songs, but for me it has good replayability. Some of my favourite songs are off this album. Kendricks most vulnerable album.

good kid, m.A.A.d city is one of those once in a lifetime albums. The storytelling, production, and lyricism on this album is unmatched, and Kendricks best work by far. While not my personal favourite from him, it is undeniable how influential and great this album truly is.

My least favourite project from Kendrick. When the album came out I liked it much more than I do now, but over time it's grown poorly on me. A lot of the songs feel like they're made to please people and make it high on the charts, making for a stale album. Huge difference from MMATBS which doesn't mean its bad, but its interesting how kendrick could go from mr morale to this.
