This beautiful album sounds like the sonic equivalent of being 19, falling deeply in love, crossing the whole country to see her, only to realize she's a regular human being and not a goddess to worship, then abandoning your feelings and regaining inner balance while looking at a marvellous sunset, only to start over as soon as the new sun rises. What a lovely trip.

It's obvious that the critic score is a bit much, but what does it matter if we're talking tributes? jaimie was an amazing and crucially underrated musician till the day she passed away. she definitely deserves some more respect than dissecting her final piece as if it's a birthday cake.

yall fellas are trippin

"spare ribs" is obviously a niche album, which doesn't seem to have much of an ambition to spread further than its target audience. apparently mods' music became relevant to a larger amount of people than they could've originally anticipated. the album doesn't crave for complexity or technical mastery, its strength is in the comic effect. the fact that ribs are laughable makes them better, not worse.
