First shot at Mr. Sheeran here, honestly, better than I expected.
The first track is so good, it genuinely got me quite emotional, and it gave me high hopes for the rest of the project.
Unfortunately it did not deliver on those expectations, with each song after this progressively getting worse and worse, but I do have to admit, Ed makes some good melodies.
"This" is the lowest rated track on the album, and while I completely understand why, its simplistic nature gives it a kind of intimacy that helps me focus on the song's content, which you could just say is generic vague BS, paints a pretty vivid, gentle, and peaceful image in my mind. It's my favorite song off the album.
"You Need Me, I Don't Need You" is pretty silly, stupid, and cringey, in the endearing kind of way. I fucking LOVE ITT. 10/10 elevator line is peak. I have no defense for liking this song.
The two songs that I dislike the most from this album are "Wake Me Up" and "Small Bump"
For the former, its simplistic, just like "This", but unlike that song the lyrics here suck, they're annoyingly stupid.
For "Small Bump," I don't like how that term is used to refer to a fetus. Are you serious? That shit is LAME.
Everything else is pretty forgettable, some are forgettable AND terrible.
Overall, bad and generic album, got some nice songs off of it though.
