What the hell happened to Nero during that day at Disneyland?
In all seriousness though, while I’m not as well-versed in the Breakcore genre as I am with other album genres I’ve written reviews for, I think I can comfortably say that this is an fantastic album. While I don’t have the time to dig into any song analysis right now, good lord is there a lot do dig into with these instrumentals in tandem with the track names. No Money Down, Low Monthly Payments certainly intrigues ... read more
Why am I being yelled at wtf did I do
The instrumentals are alright, nothing special ofc, but alright. The yelling distracts from them tho.
Cannibal is the best song on here (next to Trap), suck and gargle on my nuts
Speaking in terms of musical impressiveness, is this deserving of a 100? No, definitely not, but every time I listen to this song I’m taken back to a a time where this song would play on the car radio, as I was being transported to and from my Nana’s to be babysat while my parents worked. Due to nostalgia this song holds a special place in my heart as one of my favorites.
The lyrics “fuckity fuck fuck fuck machine” sure were a choice… but odd choices in lyricism like this are prevalent throughout the whole album to various degrees. This album is as bad as what people THOUGHT Portals was in.. 2024 was it? Everything in here Melanie has done before, just 10x worse.
First of all, as someone who dabbles in a lot of hardcore hyperpop and EDM/rave music in general and enjoys it, this EP gave me a splitting headache due to the abrasive vocal effects and some of the keening morning alarm noises. There are a few moments present with potential however.
That being said, on a technical level a majority of the EP is... messy, especially instrumentally. A lot of the lyrics are basic, with rhyme schemes that feel forced in addition. Unfortunately I was unable to ... read more
Amazing lyricism, wish there was a more dramatic contrast in dynamics within certain songs to really hammer down on the emotional impact these songs leave on the listener.
This was an absolutely beautiful album to listen to, and as a historian with a proclivity towards less… mainstream-sounding albums, this was an amazing listen. While others didn’t take too much of a liking towards the spoken poetry sections, not only did I personally love the artistic choices made by Johnny Cash as a story-teller, when he delves into more historically-based stories, the context these spoken parts provide are imperative regarding the listener's full and ... read more
I’d say this song was a fuck-ton of nothing if it wasn’t one of the most annoying songs to have been released by Imagine Dragons. Nothing is infinitely better than this song. Not only are the lyrics boring, repetitive, and meaningless, but the vocals themselves are… indescribably abrasive. The instrumentals are also just… are they even there? It’s hard to pay attention to them due to the wet farts that are the vocals blasting off into my poor, poor eardrums. ... read more
I thuroughly enjoyed the story, however analyzing it past a surface level starts to bring about… many holes. Additionally, I personally also found the ending incredibly lacking… lacking in a disappointing manner. That being said, the songs themselves are a mixed bag. Songs like Evelyn Evelyn and Sandy Fishnets are a hell of a punch, showcasing a ragged yet charming vocal performance, and instrumentals that really bring the emotional push forwards. Goofier songs like Chicken Man ... read more
As always, Mitski’s lyricism does not disappoint, her exploration of themes surrounding identity, love, and relationships in tandem with one another— while only applying in the most literal sense to a very specific audience— have been able to leave an emotional mark on much broader audiences. This is something Mitski’s consistently been amazing at.
The overall feel of this album is cohesive, however the transition between Lake and Where’s My Phone is a little ... read more
