JPEGMAFIA - I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU
66

Jpegmafia's 5th studio album - I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU is a disappointing listen full of good ideas, but ....okay-ish execution. I don't know how you can make an experimental album boring, but peggy somehow did it. There are just not a lot of highlights here and most of them are in the (much better) 2th half, which makes the album not very replayable. Also the song themself are so short due to lack of substance in most of them (I swear half the songs is just dissing "the ... read more

Typical Cats - Typical Cats
86

Typical Cats's self-titled album is a journey into sound of classic chicago hip hop, that is full of amazing rhyme schemes throughout. The album is full of personality in terms of not only amazing production done mostly by DJ Natural who also provided all the scratches throughout this project, but especially performances from all the members. They all bring something interesting to the table, whenever it would be Qwel's amazing rhyme schemes or Denizen Kane's poetic skills. My ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - Bastard
71

Tyler, The Creator’s debut mixtape - "Bastard", released in 2009 is a weird experience which I believe only few will appreciate. It is very dark when it comes to the subject matter and raw in it's production style (especieally the mixing). But that is what makes it so special to a lot of people. Though influential I think most people will agree that it is NOT a perfect mixtape. This project doesn't have any structure at all when it comes to anything. In some songs the ... read more

There's a reason why this album is iconic as it is.

Lupe Fiasco - Samurai
86

"Samurai" is the 9th studio album by rapper Lupe Fiasco. It is a concept album dedicated to the life, work and career of the late neo-soul singer Amy Winehouse. Lupe Fiasco was always known for his insane concepts and this album is no exceptions. It is short sweet and to the point. Fill with amazing production and lyricism. The album has it issues like wordy hooks in some songs and the 2th part is not as good as the 1th one but overall it is just a very and I mean very solid album and ... read more

Joey Valence & Brae - PUNK TACTICS
73

"PUNK TACTICS" is the debut album of the rap duo Joey Valence and Brae. It is a very interesting listen, because of it sound that is very reminiscent of beastie boys. The album itself starts out very strong with an amazing opening that you probably already heard - "PUNK TACTICS". However it loses steam as the album go on (I'm mainly talking about the middle part of the album). It manages to pick itself up and end on some bangers, like TAKANA 2 and HOOLIGANG, but that ... read more

Taco Hemingway - Café Belga
66

"Café Belga" is an album that honestly would be better off as an ep or two. Don't get me wrong this album still has incredible moments, but it just doesn't flow as well as something like "Marmur" or even "Trójkąt warszawski". This makes some songs like "Fiji" come off more so as filler than anything else and it limits Taco's pen game which sucks, since songs like "2031" and "ZTM" show off the incredible pen game and ... read more

Kanye West - Yeezus
93

This album has really good pacing with amazing beginning and middle, however it losses steam in the end up until bound 2 with tracks such as Guilt Trip and Send It Up. For an album with only 10 tracks it executes the contept of the whole Yeezus character really well (for a bigger analysis I recommend this video: https://youtu.be/P1xYjAnYr8c?si=6Mw-PGxkvzi1wV_K). There isn't a lot to say just a good ass album.

Best songs: on sight, new slaves, hold my liquor, Bound 2
Worst songs: guilt trip, ... read more
