This sounds like someone trying to start their car but that shit just doesn't want to. Every single track on here just sounds like random stuff put together in a chiptune tracker to make something loud. Amusing considering its length, but not exactly enjoyable; it just exists. Certainly would be absolute shit if it went on for much longer. Now, where's the male equivalent of this album?
Furry Ambient Noise Wall 🔥🔥🔥 Another @magnesianovaa rec, of course.
The first track begins with noise that sounds like a travel suitcase being dragged by someone and what sounds to me like the ambiance of a train station. Somewhere around the middle these nice melancholic ambient pads kick in and piano appears here and there. The second track feels more submerged; once in a while there's a really short electronic crackle. There's an ambient hum in the background and that ... read more
Another @magnesianovaa recommendation!
-.-. .-.. is a mix of Ambient, Radio Transmissions and ANW. The first track, Thank You For Everything has this nice, ethereal synth droning with distorted speaking, morse code messages and other beeps and noises on top of it. There's a layer of noise in there, of course; low quality static is all that's left at the end. The track is pretty, but sad, like remembering all the good times you've had with a friend when they say goodbye. The ... read more
And the award for cutest cover that has lots of elderly gay love and vomiting goes to... The Gerogerigegege! (Well, the artist Ykoyko should probably get it.)
Tokyo Anal Dynamite Singles doesn't have anything related to its namesake, but it does have a lot of unreleased material and different mixes of existing noisecore releases. If you want to check out a good chunk of the Geros noisecore output in one go, or you just need to hear every single bit of the Geros, this compilation is for ... read more
>(decrescendo) Box is different from the other entries in the series. It was recorded exactly a year after the original session at the same place; it has 3 cassettes (along with some other goodies like a stone inside an empty cassette case, a badge pin, an info card, an old concert flyer, and photos of the park and Hapi drum); and is the shortest, as the three cassettes are only around 26 minutes long together.

Moenai Hai's Final Tuning was a glimmer of hope. >(decrescendo) is the healing.
In the summer of 2019, Juntaro read the children's story Gauche the Cellist by Kenji Miyazawa. The titular Gauche plays for the town orchestra, which is preparing for an upcoming performance of Beethoven's Sixth Symphony. He's being scolded by the conductor due to his struggles with it. He is then visited at his home by different animals, which help him get better over the course of four ... read more
Reviews for each entry in the series and the bonus disc that's on here, with a few thoughts at the end.
River/Piano-Cutting Machine Music: Blackout Archive.1: (55)
Everything I've said in my review for Piano River still applies—it's all just chopped-up piano playing and a river cutting in and out—except that now the two sides are mixed together. I feel like this change improves the album even if the tracks themselves are the same, as you aren't forced to listen ... read more
Two sessions that were recorded in 1998 (on the same Walkman that was used on BLACKOUT ARCHIVE.2) with upright bassist Yuji Murakami in Koenji. Just like other recordings from this period, there's no fun to be found here at all, as it is 50 minutes of free improvisation with disturbing, pitched-down vocals from Juntaro. These vocals wouldn't be pleasant even in an unmodulated form, as they sound like a broken man moaning rather than singing; there could be countdowns in there, but it ... read more
It's been almost 2 weeks since I last listened to a wall. Thanks to @magnesianovaa for recommending this one!
The artist describes the two walls here as schizophrenic, while the label mentions the project being based on "mono no aware", the Japanese idiom for awareness of impermanence—so how does this tie into the walls themselves? I don't know; I can only say that the two things fit the title in one way or another. When it comes to the first track, there's a ... read more
I didn't have much to say about this one initially, but now I have! Not about the musical contents, though. So, Juntaro released Senzuri Power Up and Live Greatest Hits and asked RRRon if he wanted some CDs for distribution; Ron said yes, asking for 20 of each. Juntaro replied that if he buys 100 of each, he'll use that money to press a 7" record in an edition of 100 copies only and mail them to Ron so he could do a limited box set with all three; he would have exclusive rights. ... read more
Those chosen by solitude
Let's go back to 1985. Two men meet at an S&M club in Shinjuku, Tokyo: the 18-year-old Juntaro Yamanouchi and Tetsuya Endoh, a 45-year-old exhibitionist. They've done some performances there where they rolled in and ate their feces, nothing too out of the ordinary for a club like that. (I don't think I need to mention what the crowd did.)
Juntaro formed The Gerogerigegege that same year (the name being a combination of the Japanese onomatopoeia for ... read more
While you can (somewhat) make out what they're playing, this thing is so blown-out and loud that I don't even know if I can call it noise rock, this thing is more like Harsh Noise Rock if that existed. Like if you cut out some elements/changed things slightly this could very easily be a straight-up harsh noise album, especially if we're talking about the first half of it as the second half gives you a little bit more breathing space (still really fucking loud!). It's a ... read more
🗣️ SAD FLOWER BY MORERU 🗣️
Take screamo and make it really fucking loud. There's an emo rap interlude on here (EMO SCREAMO 2024), the metallic madness that is IAMFINALSATANIST, some samples and electronics thrown in, and clean vocal sections with effects on them; overall, quite diverse (even without the "detours") and insane. Kicks ass.
Also, check out Yumesaki's noise performance in a park: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0hQgL8wt7U
Like any Masonna release, this is a whirlwind of screaming and ear-assaulting frequencies going on for 40 minutes. (Masonna live shows go on for just a few minutes, by the way; he probably shines best there). All the tracks somewhat blend together due to the chaotic nature of them all, but there is quite a lot of variety. Sometimes you're subjected to delay effects and looping, sometimes he uses reverbed guitar, sometimes Maso screams into the mic this way, sometimes that way, at times he ... read more
On May 26th, 1993, Juntaro got on a train with a Walkman and two earphones. The result? An enjoyable listen, but nothing exactly special, and its length of 50 minutes might hurt it a bit. You have these noisy, metallic rumbles, squeaks, and howling; sometimes you hear what's clearly people talking, train sounds, and announcements, but besides those moments and the description, you wouldn't know what's really making those sounds. It's a nifty, atmospheric noise piece that ... read more
A wooden box with Vomir engraved on it, it has no title, and its contents are also untitled. If you've heard of Vomir, you've certainly heard him describe his approach as "no ideas, no change, no development, no entertainment, no remorse", and this is no exception. Every single Vomir release (barring collaborations and maybe some really early stuff) sounds the same. It's all unchanging static for an arbitrary amount of time. Despite this, you can find differences (but ... read more
The third entry in the Bootlegs Eats Bootlegs Archive series makes a harsh album harsher, obliterating a good chunk of material and allowing a bit of the good stuff to cut through the noise (Anal Beethoven somewhat survives the bootlegging). There's the rumbling, there's the "wind", the already noisy elements from the original. A quite dynamic wall that is a slight improvement from Senzuri Champion, as the less interesting parts are turned into noisy goodness, and the rest, ... read more
The second entry in the Bootlegs Eats Bootlegs Archive series turns an insane album into an incomprehensible beast. The drums can't be made out at all; only the occasional scream/countdown or high-frequency blast pokes through. The wall has this deep river- or wind-like hum at its base, on top of which all the nicely crunched, ear-piercing static madness ensues. Is it an improvement from the original? No, but it's pretty solid—and that's not the point anyway. Harsh noise, ... read more
Juntaro takes back his own work by bootlegging existing Gerogerigegege bootlegs. He started the Bootlegs Eats Bootlegs Archive series somewhere around 2019 and even bootlegged a YouTube upload of Uguisudani Apocalypse for its cassette release. Some of these are the only "reissues" the releases have gotten. Bootleg of Mort Douce Live Bootleg is the first entry in this series. The wall fluctuates from harsh to ear-piercing and is quite layered; elements from the original cut through ... read more
"This record is a soundtrack for Uguisudani. Uguisudani is JR Yamanote line running in Tokyo and has the fewest number of users per day but, the deepest."
Uguisudani Station is located in the Taito ward of Tokyo, Japan. There are some cool places to check out near it, like Ueno Park, but what really caught my eye was the number of love hotels in the area. The Yamanote Line is one of Tokyo's busiest, but the Uguisudani Station itself seems to be pretty peaceful. Uguisudani ... read more
