Featured here is not the soundtrack, no such material exists.
This is what David titled an 'Imaginary Soundtrack,' a simulation of a play-through one might have in the game, rerecorded and mixed, it's not what I heard.
I heard something different, something else entirely. That's what I'm reviewing here, not what's listed, but *my* experience of the game. I believe this is what you would call 'space ambient,' à la Nala Sinephro, and I say the ... read more
Buck Meek has improved much better from their debut, this new album is rich with ideas and catchy tunes, something I felt was missing from their music I've heard. Pleasantly surprised :> Happy little face
It's quaint, it's warm- It's filler. 30 minutes that demand very little from the listener:
Much of what you hear is the same, the sounds are familiar, and the titles make me eye-roll. Thoughtless references to coffee (across multiple tracks, on every album it seems), peaches and pumpkins, fluffy clouds, it's all stretching for a 'vibe'
"vibes vibes vibes"- I'm so sick of vibes, vibes are just appropriated misunderstandings of music, they're ... read more
Bought this on CD years back, still one of my favorites in the collection. Endlessly re-playable jams, instantly pleasant, an absolute essential. Got me through numerous work and study sessions, so much love for this thing
big fan of whatever type of fucked up this is, put this band on your radar now.
but there is often too little to return to over the album, maybe with future releases
Joji perhaps best study his inspirations harder, for this doesn't provide much but weaker copy.
Rather than review the full project, which feels too demo-quality to put my effort into scraping together whatever ideas are present enough to bounce critique off, I want to look just at Track 13: Can't See Sh*t.
Joji channels James blake's production without ever recognizing what it is that makes James so poignant as an artist. The vocals work okay, but I feel they too ... read more
A limp-dick retread of old ideas to compromise for withering substance.
bbno$ has been burrowing himself in a corner where any/all lyrics, themes, or ideas come across with the same substance/authenticity as Jacob Collier. All the flashy lights and marketing cannot make up for a lack of genuine ideas.
Loosely stumbling throughout the song with little energy, like he doesn't want a part of this at all, no wonder people joke about this being generated, cause I can't imagine a human ... read more
it's impressive for an album to capture one's attention this much despite it's genre, hello little elephant creature nice to meet you
Very few albums capture the energy, soundscape, and mood like this one.
To describe it the best I can, the vocals sound post-human. They strip me of physical form and make me feel like I'm outside my own body. There's nothing but static punctured by scattered thoughts and synths, like I'm hearing my consciousness in musical notes and random lines. Truly a very autistic experience I'm having rn
Rocky hasn't been in his prime for a little over a decade, but that's okay!
That doesn't make a bad album, just an artist I don't set very high expectations for anymore.
This album has no desire to stick out from its contemporaries
But it does want to stick out on my social media feed :/ I sure love marketing
Fantastic discovery, a very earnest and subtle project that I can picture a lot of people getting really attached to
something is... odd here
you hear the great artist but it's like they hit a few wrong buttons and forgot to take it out, something here is SO not where it's supposed to be
