Charli xcx - BRAT

Sometimes we can get in our own way when it comes to friends, by twisting and villainizing people in our minds. But in the end friendship really is so important, and we ought to remember we're all just like each other. This album is an incredibly powerful exploration of that theme. In addition to the poignant writing, uh, yeah, every single song on this album is a banger. All of them. Excellent writing, excellent production. This is one of the greatest albums I've ever heard. Fontaines D.C. - Favourite

This track did not excite me and I think there are other songs that do the same trick better. Pleasant enough though

feeble little horse - Girl with Fish

This album really speaks to me. It is the right mix of stank-face-worthy noisy stuff and melodic pop-adjacent songwriting, plus some really creative textures and lyrics that will put a big dumb smile on your face. In other words, it's fun, it's sweet, and it's crispy and crunchy. I absolutely love it

Taylor Swift - THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY

More than anything, I am perplexed that Taylor and her people chose to hide a mildly enjoyable album behind an extremely boring one. This second half is alright and gets Taylor some of her credibility back. The songwriting is more clever, and the production is fuller and less bland (thanks Aaron Dessner!). I gotta take off a point or two for that 1830s lyric alone, though. Jesus. I'll even go as far as to say she pulls off the grand theft auto line here, but I can't let that 1830s line ... read more

No Age - Nouns

This is a masterfully-executed noise pop/noise rock record. Admittedly, I'm a sucker for this kind of sound, but it's dynamic, creative, fun, and nearly every track is memorable

Chappell Roan - The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess

Some great pop bangers with a lot of personality and punch. But there are also some songs with not as much personality and punch that don’t do much for me. Overall it’s solid

Jeff Buckley - Sketches for My Sweetheart The Drunk

It’s nice to think this album would’ve been great if it had been finished. I have to evaluate it as is, though, and it doesn’t do much for me. I had hoped it would especially considering how deeply Grace affected me. Might have to give this another shot at some point

The Dismemberment Plan - Emergency & I

my bloody valentine - loveless

Seriously, there's other shoegaze, and there's even other great shoegaze. But this is something else. The sonic textures on this album are really so creative and special here. I feel like the sounds are burrowing into my head and scrambling my brain, but in a nice way. It boggles the mind to think of what might be going on in the signal chain. This is the kind of thing that reminds you of the endless possibilities when it comes to music and sound.
