I had lower expectations for this album after the singles, and yet I’m still slightly disappointed from this record. I was a fan of her previous works, and I really enjoyed make you mine when it came out, but there’s an audible gap in quality between that song and the rest of the record. It’s audible that this LP was released almost two years after the first single. The production is fine, but it’s nothing outstanding, which is unfortunate because Madison Beer is a great ... read more
This album is a testimony to RAYE’s brilliance. There is truly not a single song on this album that isn’t great. What I find truly admiring is the fact that, looking back on my rankings, there were a few songs that I wasn’t a fan of that I still gave high scores to simply because I couldn’t justifiably take points away from it. These songs are just so well made that even if this isn’t your cup of tea, you have to acknowledge RAYE’s greatness. The production ... read more
I have never felt this personally moved from an album before. Now I acknowledge that this review could be slightly biased because I’ve been an Em Beihold fanatic for years now, and no one has been more excited for this album then me, but let me tell you this is an insanely excellent project. The jump in quality in this record is noticeable, as the melodies and production are the most alluring part of this album, each song roping you in with its smart creative decisions and musicality. The ... read more
Olivia Dean is such a breath of fresh air. The Art of Loving is truly a mosaic of emotions: love, grief, and acceptance, encapsulating these core ideas in the songs both externally in her relationships and internally in her own self image. The instrumental is easily the best part of this album, elevating these songs from good into breezy hits. There is not a single song on this album that people can’t vibe to during a car ride or while walking through the park, and that’s the ... read more
I’m genuinely speechless how CupcakKe does this. She makes such good songs about the most vulgar and profane topics. The production is so active the whole album, really engaging to listener to the record, almost distracting from the lyrics (almost, but nothing can really distract from the lyrics). The writing on this album is so astoundingly good that it puts to shame other rap albums. A record about kinks, fetishes, and jumping people is one of the best rap albums of 2025, and I am here ... read more
This album was genuinely disheartening. In Short n’ Sweet, Carpenter woos the listener with tongue-in-cheek banter, making witty remarks with sexual innuendos. This album tries to encapsulate that same feeling, but fails miserably. Nothing is implied and nothing is left to imagine. This album is supposed to be a sexy scene, but instead leaves the listener with a bitter taste in their mouth. This record doesn’t paint Carpenter as a flirty temptress, but a dirty woman who uses men ... read more
This album is flawless in every way, shape, and form. The production is astounding, especially with the samples. The way that she can add to anything to create a work of art is a talent every other artist today should thrive for. Her rapping is insanely good, and at times she acts more than she raps, unveiling an even deeper sense of emotion and identity. AND OH MY GOODNESS THE WRITING!!! Little Simz is not just a rapper, she’s a poet. Even disregarding the fact that the album name is an ... read more
My 21st Century Blues is a beautiful depiction of the struggle RAYE has faced throughout her life. Her vocals make this album what it is, as she takes us to the powerful, painful, addiction fueled, and horny journey that made RAYE who she is today. The production is modest but successful, serving exactly what’s needed to aid, but not overpower. The lyricism is also strong; RAYE is able to hone her mind to create luxurious imagery.
While this LP is exceptional, the first half of this ... read more
Lotus comprises of everything necessary for a great rap album. It tackles insecurities, family dynamics, confidence, and positivity. Little Simz is one of the most reliable artists today, delivering line after line of perfection, slyness, and radiance. The production on this album takes risks and overall pays off, armed by some of the strongest lyricism in a record I’ve heard in a while.
Eusexua is sonically outstanding. The production on this album is incredible, every note hand crafted to create this beautiful mosaic of music. The synths, the vocals, the beats, the melodies, everything is so extraordinarily put together in a way that’s so much, yet not extravagant. FKA twigs perfectly encapsulated the feeling of ecstasy (or I guess eusexua) in her music.
My only grievance with this album is the lyricism at times can be bland. Not bad on any account, on the contrary, ... read more
The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is an exceptional take on the explicit depiction of the promiscuous nature of discovering yourself in your mid-twenties. The songs are horny, raw, and so well written. Chappell’s imagery is what makes this album so transcendental. I’m not just singing along to a pop song, I’m experiencing the troubles of my favorite book character right alongside them. She’s painting a picture of her sexual experiences and the drawing is beautiful. ... read more
I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU is a beautiful record. The lyrics are genuinely astounding. JPEGMAFIA has such a way with his couplets that amazes me; the lyrics hit hard!!! On the more upbeat songs, they’re motivating, passionate, fierce, and revolting. On the retrospective pieces, they’re considerate, insightful, and brave. His genius shines through during the most frivolous songs, and touches the listener during serious moments.
The production on this LP is insane. Not a single time ... read more
This album was very different than what I expected. I expected to be infatuated with the ballads more given the fact that slower songs were what I preferred from artists he’s worked with in the past, but the melancholic music bored me here. The production wasn’t great on these songs and the lyrics were a lot more vague than interesting.
The more upbeat tracks caught my attention a lot more. While the lyricism was also slightly inept, the production was a lot more fascinating than ... read more
Silence Between Songs is a solid record from Madison Beer. The vocals are so elegant and beautiful, making the worst songs better. The lyricism is mostly alright, although Madison has been extremely aggrandized on this part, as there’s only a small handful of songs that moves me the way she wants. The production is really what makes this LP memorable. While the lyrics are simplistic, the melodic prowess Madison exerts throughout this album so what really elevates this album for me. The ... read more
Lush is a perfect album. Mitski is not a musical artist, she’s a genius poet who utilizes music to accentuate her complex metaphors. This album is what I think of when someone explains musical theatre, the emotion is just overflowing so much that simply speaking isn’t enough; you must sing, with the instrumental echoing your sorrow. The simplistic approach to the composition of this LP is an ode to minimalism. The vocals perfectly express the pain and torment Mitski has experienced ... read more
Memoir of a Sparklemuffin is a deep, sophisticated project. Suki’s lyricism is one of the strongest I’ve seen for her level. The production is simple, but fitting for her soothing vocals. Each song sounds so unique, no matter how many times she’s singing about a similar topic; she manages to go through development throughout this album and comes out of it a different person, which adds so much depth to this record. Her professionalism is unmatched and it’s clear ... read more
This is an amateur album. This record is lacking in every single way. The production sounds unfinished, the vocals are mediocre, and the lyricism is surface level. Mxmtoon has a lot of potential, evident by a few standout tracks like god? and i hate texas , but it is clearly not focused into a cohesive project.
HIT ME HARD AND SOFT is a masterpiece. There is not a single critique I have. It is as close to perfection as one can get. From the stellar production, to the intricacy of the lyricism, to the especially the devastatingly eloquent vocals, Billie Eilish has tremendously outdone herself. The melodies are haunting and the lyrics consistently hit. She has blown me away in every way possible.
I came into this album only knowing two songs from sombr and excited to learn more. After listening to the album, I realized those two songs were all I needed to know. This album is just dull The production is the same thing over and over again with little variation. I understand bleakness is a part of his brand, but if this is the vibe you want to go for sonically, it has to be backed up by good lyricism, but sombr fails in that regard too. The lyrics are the same sulking with no methodical ... read more
I feel like PinkPatheress dropped the ball with this record. There’s nothing inherently bad about this album, but there’s nothing really good about it. Each song sounds vaguely similar to the last, and there’s nothing really sticking. The choruses are okay, the production is mostly boring, and the vocals seem bland. The lyrics seem like she had a dream about what she’s singing about and forgot what the dream was about halfway through writing. While this isn’t the ... read more
