Really really consistent, and it manages to switch up styles enough to keep it interesting throughout the whole listen. I will definitely be coming back to this record, but the opener especially blew me away.
I literally just did a radio show on sludge metal today, where I played an older Neurosis track, and came home to listen to this absolute banger. They are sooo back.
It took me wayyyyyyy too long to get to this album, but it just might be my favorite Mitski project... I can hear flashes of Fiona Apple (a huge compliment, as I love her work), and overall, this album is much more stripped-back than all her subsequent work, but I think that works in the album's favor. It's brief, passionate, and consistent.
