Very good album I thought it didn't have a bad song there were parts that I think didn't flow properly and almost lost me several times but at the same time, I could listen to every song multiple times if need be. Very underrated album not the best in any metric but an above-average album for sure.
I'll start off by saying this is not my favorite genre of music, I asked a friend for an album I should review and they said this. Now I think Hozier has an unreal singing voice and I appreciate what he's trying to do with almost a mythical album but I think it just doesn't click together I had several songs I forgot the entirety of seconds after listening I just didn't have any song stick with me or move me in any meaningful way positively or negatively.
I found this album one of the most complete albums I've ever listened to it's hard to find a weak spot in this album. The message hits home for many people and he does that in a way I haven't heard before. I don't think it does anything crazy but it didn't need to it was more about the story than making a groundbreaking album.
This album has 3 songs that I can play with some frequency. And it's a very consistent album that doesn't wow. the last half of the album loses what I think made the first half an above-average album with Hello really hurting the overall of album. Along with several songs sounding not bad but almost off like there missing something or they fit awkwardly.
One of my favorite Smoke Sesh albums, The highs in this album were great with Pursuit taking the cake at an 8.6. The album did have its lows like Alive at a 4.3. Overall the album has its shining stars but is filled with middle-of-the-road and below-average songs.
