The production was unique and kept the sound fresh throughout the album (on average, there are of course a few songs where the instrumentation is mirroring the 2010s HEAVILY). But I was impressed by the complex guitar riffs and synth work whenever "Queen B" stopped yelling.
I am not a huge fan of Beyonce's belting. It is incredibly impressive, and her head voice is next level, but I DID feel like I was being yelled at on most of the tracks. I would prefer if there were a few ... read more

Doechii - Oh The Places You'll Go

Doechii's album, "Alligator Bites Never Heal" was one of my favorites from last year. While this one had the same conversational rapping style of "Denial is a River" (what I think thrust that song into popularity) a lot of these tracks fell a little flat. This album was fine, starting with a really fun first love song. Then in the later half of the album, I started feeling it more. None of it is bad in the least, but I really didn't FEEL until we hit "The Ideal Husband", and from there I fell in love. Father John Misty knows how to write love songs that remind us of its passing. He can tell a story of a long and beautiful love, while still referencing death, religion, and humanity's faults. Can't wait to obsess over these songs.

Olivia Dean - Messy
NR

UFO- Pretty song to start the album with, but it was a bit forgettable. I like the reverb on her voice giving it a dreamy feeling.
Dive- This song isn't unique, but it's definitely still enjoyable. Soulful with the piano and choir, this song just makes me feel relaxed and happy. Definitely a song to fall in love to.
Ladies Room- YES. This is a song needed in pop. Olivia is both loving to their partner while standing up for themself. She is confident in herself and knows what she needs in this ... read more
