I Love You, I'm Trying is grandson's second album (and currently his most recent release) and it has already become my most favourite album. It takes a much more different approach to his other songs and is a really big contrast with his other album - Death of an Optimist. Death of an Optimist has come to be one of my all-time most favourite albums and showed what potential grandson showed. The impactful lyrics and the energetic instrumentals (such as We Did It!!!) in some songs contrast with the slower-pacing and calmer feeling in others (such as Death of an Optimist // Intro). This album can be very hit or miss to some due to the 'edgy' lyrics and I do agree that sometimes the lyrics can degrade the song they are featured in - with a good example being Riptide. ... read more
