When I first heard the EP's first single, 'Immaculate', I instantly loved it. The rework of 'Missin u' was a great callback to her earlier work, and after the confusing rollout that was the first Club Shy, I was SURE this would be better. Don't get me wrong, I've come to love the original Club Shy, but it was missing that signature edge that Shy's music typically has.
Come around to the second single, 'F*Me', a collaboration with french singer ... read more
Maybe it's just because I'm not a Tate fan, but the album didn't click with me at all. At first the songs sounded the same, and as soon as I started wishing she'd throw in some variation she pulled a complete 180 and the tracklist lost cohesion. I really wish it had the darker sound she showed in Sports car.
Fav track: Sports car
oh she is TAKING IT. This is so much better than her previous two singles and I love how dreamy and atmospheric it is! Side note though the cover is hideous wtf was she thinking
**UPDATED REVIEW COMING**
Ghostholding shows Jane Remover leaning more into the shoegaze/rock sound she showcased in Census Designated.
I believe this is one of her best albums quality wise, with some of her best songs to date on it. 'Play my guitar' serves as an incredible opener, a mix between a love song and a self reflection, layered on top of a catchy guitar instrumental. 'Dead forever', a single from the album, is a chaotic, explosive rock song where Jane's ... read more
After the energetic, high-paced album that was After Hours, The Weeknd slows things down with the second installment of his trilogy.
This album takes on a futuristic approach, playing out like a long forgotten radio station from the middle of nowhere. Sonically, it's very reminiscent of 80s synth-pop, and consists mainly of slow-paced songs with a common theme of regret. Through the projects 16-track run, Abel sings about death, regret, fear and passed relationships - how he wishes he ... read more
I absolutely love the concept of an intergallactic radio station, and the way OPN crafted this project makes you feel as though you are experiencing it first hand. It sounds as if a radio station is glitching, picking up signals and interferences from different points, and merging them together to form some twisted display of sounds.
Fav track: No Nightmares + Tales From The Trash Stratum
This album is really fun! I like her humour and she knows how to make a catchy song. My issue with this is that I think the sex jokes just sound corny rather than funny, and they fall flat. I also feel like this album is a bit emotionally all over the place, however that might be a stylistic choice.
Fav track: Espresso
After being dropped by her label for not being a big enough hit, Tinashe has gone and proved herself with what I believe is her best project to date. The 15 track album takes the listener on a variety of twists and turns - from songs with reverbed, echoing instrumentals, to bass-heavy rap songs, to emotional guitar ballads - and manages to tie it all together seamlessly. The album feels so personal, almost as though you're having a conversation with Tinashe. You see her in love, you see ... read more
This is so insane. She was genuinely so ahead of her time and it's criminal how slept on this mixtape is. She focuses on a very over the top, futuristic style of pop music that is almost obnoxious, and she does it perfectly. Despite what anyone says, this is one of the best albums of her career, if not the best. 'Unlock It' is an incredibly exaggerated pop track that feels like bubblegum was melted down and played through a DAW. 'Track 10' almost feels otherworldly, and ... read more
One of the best pop records in recent years. Lorde perfectly showcases the experiences of a young adult in a big, new world, balancing life and partying. This album seems to take place through one night, and it showcases a flurry of emotions - heartbreak, optimism, confusion, anger and acceptance. In my opinion, this is her magnum opus.
Fav track: Hard Feelings/Loveless
This is really fun!! It sounds like leaked Addison demos because that's exactly what it is... as she said, this is basically a bonus for her fans before she kicks off her proper career.
Fav track: I got it bad
if u told me 4 years ago id be gagging over addison rae id laugh at u but here we are
After her career with Chairlift and several side projects, Caroline's debut album blows everything before it out of the water. The whole project is encased in a dreamy, dark atmosphere, where Caroline's vocals glide through smooth and flowing instrumentals. It almost feels like a fairytale, or a completely nonsensical story made up within a dream. The ambient centerpiece, 'Insomnia', reflect on challenging moments and sleepless nights, and sonically feel like being trapped ... read more
After the global hit that was Sweetener, Ariana seems to have done a complete tonal shift for her next record.
Instead of the big, spacial pop songs of its predecessor, thank u next focuses more on tight-knit, vibrating RNB tracks. This is where I believe Ariana's talent shines best - yes, she can undeniably make a great pop song, but this style suits her the most. The record - which was created in just over two weeks - shows us a raw, unfiltered glimpse into Ariana's thoughts and ... read more
A pretty good album!! I felt it dragged on a bit but I loved the transitions between songs. I can understand this given it’s his final album.

Four years after her last album, Ariana is back with an explanation.
Contrasted to the themes of love and happiness shown in Positions, eternal sunshine seems to have taken a complete 180. From the second the listener hits play and hears the crackly recording of 'intro (end of the world)', its easy to tell that they're in for a journey.
Undeniably, this is Ari's most vulnerable work to date. It primarily details her divorce, as well as responding to the slurry of ... read more
Arguably Ariana's most misunderstood project, Positions is a breath of fresh air after the emotional rollercoaster that was thank u next.
From the dramatic string introduction of 'shut up' to the unfiltered song that is '34+35', Ariana shows a diverse array of styles and genres, leaving her audience a wide range to choose from. 'just like magic' is a fun, optimistic pop song about Ariana getting and doing whatever she wants with no troubles. The disjointed ... read more
