I know that I said I would try to be more critical but this album is just too good not to be a 100. I genuinely don’t think anything could be done to make this album more perfect. Disintegration balances a very dark tone with very beautiful production and it pulls it off phenomenally. Every song is memorable and has a great instrumental. What really sells the sound of this album is the vocal delivery. It is so raw and powerful and unlike a lot of music that I’ve heard. Disintegration also has very provocative lyrics that really paint a strong picture in your head. Lullaby especially feels like you are being told a scary bedtime story and is genuinely disturbing at times. Genius tells me that a lot of this album is about drug addiction and the toll it has on your mental health and I can very easily see how many of the lyrics could be alluding to that. A lot of the lyrics are also very hopeful and optimistic. I think the blend between the depressing and hopeful lyrics and sounds are the real strength of this record. It sets it apart from everything else and really makes it one of a kind. I have no idea why I never returned to this after my first listen but I am very glad that I finally got around to a relisten because this is some of the greatest music ever made.
