Freddie Gibbs - Midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik

Freddie Gibbs « marathon » :
Frederick Tipton better known as Freddie Gibbs is one of my favorite rappers in the game right now. In my point of view, Freddie was during the last decade one of the major figures of the underground scene and has acquired after years and years of hustling the OG status. Its footprint on the industry is undeniable and its success is far from being underserved. Like most of his fanbase, I discovered him through his infamous LP with the legendary ... read more

Gupi - None
70

Some of the goofiest music I've heard in a while. I feel like a kid who had too much sugar listening to this but I kinda like it. Most of the LP is packed with bubble gum bangers that go super hard. But I'm not sure if I'll find time to go back to this project in this already busy year for music release...

Young Nudy - Anyways
79

I never thought I would enjoy this project as much as I did. I wasn’t a big fan of Nudy’s last project with Pierre Bourne. In my point of view, both artists don’t match well. I think playboi carti does it better on those dreamy and warm beats. But here, this is what Young Nudy needs a good balance between fun and more gloomy beats mix with the sometimes goofy sometimes cold-blooded Atlanta emcee’s flow. Also, my boi rap his ass off on this project, he sounds so much ... read more

Elcamino & 38 Spesh - Martyrs Prayer
67

Ah boii, I’m quite overwhelmed by this joint tape of Elcamino (Griselda affiliated) and 38 Spesh (Ny underground rapper). This EP is way too short with few stand-out tracks. The buffalo MC seems to be on autopilot mode. It really lacks the hunger and harshness that we can find in other Griselda records. Though the production is still on point and both MCs know how to immerse their listeners in the murky mafia-ridden suburbs of NY. I still expect a more consistent tape from both rappers ... read more

Lil Wayne - Funeral
60

I mean… maybe we should just be glad that Lil Wayne is still capable of spitting and dropping bangers here and there. Yes, there are too many fillers. Yes, sometimes the production sounds dated. However, the few bangers hit hard! There are also a few good features, especially the Jay Rock one. Unfortunately, Lil Wayne isn’t in the same beast mode as he used to in his mixtape era. Everyone has already said that but he really needs to condensate his project. I’m sure there is ... read more

ZelooperZ - Dyn-O-Mite
80

One of the most fun and thrilling release of 2019. Zelooperz disjointed flow threw me off at first but after more listen I found myself captivated by this tape. Whether it’s for the grimy and psychedelic beats or Zelooperz strange charisma. Dyn-o-mite brings a real breath of fresh air in the current rap landscape. Of course, we can feel the strong influence of the sLum movement through the loosy production ,lo-fi aesthetic to which he brings his own weird and catchy signature. ... read more
